Apparently we are in on Brandon Jones, #1 Safety:

quote:

"I don't have any visits set up yet. Unofficial-wise, I'm going to TCU, Baylor, and Texas to try to catch a game," Jones said. "Official-wise, don't have dates but the places I know I'm going for sure are Ole Miss, Oregon, Alabama, and probably Ohio State."
Jones, who unofficially visited Texas A&M for the Aggies' 44-27 Sept. 19 win against Nevada, knows what he wants to see during his various trips.

Austin Troxell says Miller Forristall is always pushing him to commit to Alabama.

Depends on who they hire. This is going to be one hell of a coaching search to watch.

Hank South thinks Saraland WR and USCw commit, Velus Jones, will be getting an Alabama offer soon.

Interdasting.

From our friend T Rich on Greg Little:

quote:

OV set for Halloween weekend, which is our off week and the week before his announcement. Great news IMO considering he has already seen us against Wisconsin and UGA so it's not like he needs to see another game and the coaches will be able to focus their attention on him.

Free Bleacher Report Content on Velus Jones

quote:

Meanwhile, Jones showed why Sarkisian and his staff decided to recruit him all the way across the country in Alabama.

According to Jimmy Wigfield of AL.com, Jones accounted for 233 all-purpose yards and four touchdowns in the first half of Saraland (Alabama) High School’s 56-35 win over Baldwin County.

Like Juarez, Jones found the end zone in a trio of ways. He scored on long runs of 56 and 22 yards, caught a 68-yard scoring strike and ran a kickoff back 77 yards for a touchdown.

Wigfield notes that the 5’11”, 180-pound Jones has regularly faced double- or triple-coverage, which led to a slow start this season. However, he’s accounted for five touchdown catches in the last two weeks.

Jones is one of five wideouts currently committed to the Trojans. While his rating may not be as lofty as his future teammates, his performance is a reminder of his ability to create big plays when the ball is in his hands.

Free Bleacher Report Content on Jake Fromm (very long)

quote:

Offensive coordinator Lane Kiffin continues to collect assets for future attacks. His latest pickup may ultimately prove most important.

Fromm figures to assume the role of ringleader as Alabama's 2017 recruiting efforts move forward. He expressed plans to help construct another strong Crimson Tide class that can contend for future national championships.

“I’m shutting it down. I’m 100 percent Alabama. It’s not something that I’ll take too lightly because I want to make my class the best I can make it," Fromm told Hank South of 247Sports. "I’m ready to do it. I’m ready to take on that role.”

Good read.

I like Velus Jones in this WR class. With the offer, and the issues of distance and fallout of the Sarkisian matter, I could see an imminent flip.

Little visiting just prior to his announcement is promising.

I honestly thought we have good depth at receiver. We have Charlot, Sims, Falkins and Keif all on the bench. We also have Foster and Ridley coming back next year.

I like this a lot. If Velus Jones is at minimum just as talented as guys like Mykel Jones, offer the in-state guy the committable offer first.

A few weeks later, the order remains the same, with Jim McElwain and company No. 1. He even sported UF gloves and a Gator towel during Montgomery (Ala.) Carver's game against Montgomery (Ala.) Park Crossing on Friday night (video highlights above.).

"When I took the visit this summer, it felt like home to me, I just like everything about it," Wilson said. "The coaches were laid back and I've felt like I've built a good relationship with them. And (Park Crossing defensive back and Florida commitment) Jeawon Taylor is one of my best friends and he tells me a lot about Florida. "And based on the games I've been watching, and the coaches and players bond, academics and everything, I feel it can fit me, so I made them my top."

Beyond the Gators, Wilson says the SEC West contenders aren't far off.

"It's very close, it's not a far gap," he said, adding that one of the biggest evaluation points remaining is the linebacker depth chart at each program.
Wilson has yet to set an official visit while the LSU Tigers will host him this coming weekend with Florida traveling to Baton Rouge.
National Siginig Day remains the commitment timetable for the No. 1 inside linebacker in the land.

I'm not saying it isn't possible. But if that happens, something will have changed radically. I'll just say that it's quite unlikely.

So all of a sudden Jaewon Taylor is his best friend and Davis and Davidson are not that important. Awburn stopped recruiting him because he was pushing Alabama to their recruits. There has to be a sea change for him to favor Florida now.
But stranger things have happened.

Velus Jones

@VelusJr: I'm still verbally committed but my recruitment is open. It is unfortunate what has happened to coach Sarkisian and I wish him the very best
