According to Jimmy Wigfield of AL.com, Jones accounted for 233 all-purpose yards and four touchdowns in the first half of Saraland (Alabama) High School’s 56-35 win over Baldwin County.
Like Juarez, Jones found the end zone in a trio of ways. He scored on long runs of 56 and 22 yards, caught a 68-yard scoring strike and ran a kickoff back 77 yards for a touchdown.
Wigfield notes that the 5’11”, 180-pound Jones has regularly faced double- or triple-coverage, which led to a slow start this season. However, he’s accounted for five touchdown catches in the last two weeks.
Jones is one of five wideouts currently committed to the Trojans. While his rating may not be as lofty as his future teammates, his performance is a reminder of his ability to create big plays when the ball is in his hands.

I like Velus Jones in this WR class. With the offer, and the issues of distance and fallout of the Sarkisian matter, I could see an imminent flip.

I honestly thought we have good depth at receiver. We have Charlot, Sims, Falkins and Keif all on the bench. We also have Foster and Ridley coming back next year.

I like this a lot. If Velus Jones is at minimum just as talented as guys like Mykel Jones, offer the in-state guy the committable offer first.

Wilson has yet to set an official visit while the LSU Tigers will host him this coming weekend with Florida traveling to Baton Rouge.
National Siginig Day remains the commitment timetable for the No. 1 inside linebacker in the land.

So all of a sudden Jaewon Taylor is his best friend and Davis and Davidson are not that important. Awburn stopped recruiting him because he was pushing Alabama to their recruits. There has to be a sea change for him to favor Florida now.
