Yeah, I don't know how you can say he was by far the best when Westbrook had a junior RB (Joel Denley) rush for 5 TDs and 279 yards.

Hurts went 10 for 27 for 198 yards. Considering he threw 195 yards in the first half (yes only threw for 3 yards in the second half) then he was hardly the best player on the field.

Here is Denley's highlights from the game.

I can't find Hurts highlights, but will keep looking.

As you know the most productive player is not always the best. Westbrook has a very good oline especially compared to Channelviews dline. Plus, Westbrook has a legit WR #1 Corbin that usually is double teamed. It opens up the running lanes. Denley is a very good player with several d2 offers.

Channelview is singularly dependent on Hurts and their 4-1 record and his stats support this.

When Westbrook was practicing this week their entire game plan was edge contain and stopping the middle run lanes. westbrooks DT 42 was tasked with stopping it and to force hurts to run sideways.

Recruits predict the outcome (I arranged them by predictions)

quote:

Alabama wins:
Ben Davis, 5-star ILB, Gordo (Ala.): 28-17 Alabama
Markail Benton, 5-star OLB, Phenix City (Ala.) Central: 31-24 Alabama
Alex Leatherwood, 4-star OT & UA commit, Pensacola (Fla.) Washington: 34-21 Alabama
Dare Rosenthal, 4-star OT & UA commit, Ferriday (La.): “’Bama, but it’s going to be
tough.”
Brendan Scales, 3-star TE & UA commit, Ballwin (Mo.) Lafayette: 28-21 Alabama
Miller Forristall, 3-star TE & UA commit, Cartersville (Ga.): 20-17 Alabama
Jeffrey Okudah, 5-star S, Grand Prairie (Texas) South Grand Prairie: 20-17 Alabama
Jeffery Simmons, 4-star DE, Macon (Miss.) Noxubee County: 42-14 Alabama
Nico Collins, 4-star WR, Pinson (Ala.) Clay-Chalkville: 31-27 Alabama
Jake Fromm, 4-star QB, Warner Robins (Ga.) Houston County: “I think ‘Bama is going to win by seven. I don’t see them losing another game this year.”
Austin Troxell, 4-star OT, Madison (Ala.) Academy: 27-24 Alabama
Allan Walters, 4-star QB, Paramus (N.J.) Catholic: “I think ‘Bama will run the ball and play good defense and win 31-24. It will be a good, close game. Looking forward to it.”
Jack West, 4-star QB, Saraland (Ga.): 24-21 Alabama
Myles Mason, 4-star S, Pleasant Grove (Ala.): 21-17 Alabama

Undecided:
Janarius Robinson, 4-star DE, Panama City (Fla.) Bay: 34-28, not sure on victor
Ahmmon Richards, 4-star WR & Miami commit, West Palm Beach (Fla.) Wellington: “It’s going to be a great one, I don’t know who will win.”
Dexter Lawrence, 5-star DT, Wake Forest (N.C.): “Don’t have a prediction.”
B.J. Emmons, 4-star RB & UA commit, Morganton (N.C.) Freedom: “No prediction.”

UGA Wins:
Erroll Thompson, 3-star LB, Florence (Ala.): 28-17 Georgia
Nate McBride, 4-star OLB, Vidalia (Ga.) Comprehensive: 34-28 Georgia
A.J. Harris, 4-star CB, Madison (Ala.) Bob Jones: 35-17 Georgia
Will Ignont, 4-star ILB, New Market (Ala.) Buckhorn: 24-20 Georgia
Devonta Smith, 4-star ATH & UGA commit, Amite (La.): “I have Georgia by three.”
Jaden Hunter, 4-star OLB, Atlanta (Ga.) Westlake: 21-17 Georgia
Malcolm Askew, 4-star ATH, McCalla (Ala.) McAdory 28-17 Georgia
Christian Tutt, 4-star CB, Thomson (Ga): 35-21 Georgia

I'm a little surprised by the three Alabama natives predicting a double digit loss. LINK

Of his son’s recruitment, Wayne Davis said, “We’re going to let Ben go through the process. It’s good for him to have all these one-on-one, man-to-man talks with head coaches. He likes Jimbo Fisher, and he likes those Palm Trees in Tallahassee. Then there’s Alabama.
“He’s either going to commit on National Signing Day or at the Under Armor Game in Orlando (January 2).”

I hope our staff doesn't waste another minute recruiting him.

Askew sounded like UGA only lost by a TD or so. Oh well. Clearly the recruits we've lost to UGA had no bearing on the outcome of the game yesterday.

I was thinking last night that Rico McGraw was smart to flip from us to them. There is no way he would beat out Ronnie or Minkah.
