McKinney's 247 profile has him listed at 170 whereas his Hudl profile lists him at 185.

I went with the 185 in the OP.

BOL Nuggets summary:

-Keyshawn Johnson Jr. (2017 WR) apparently had a great time on his visit and some believe he wants to go to school outside of California. He may return to Tuscaloosa later this fall.
-Sources say Alabama has strengthened it’s lead for Nigel Warrior in recent weeks due to his relationship with Kirby. Warrior is supposedly talking to DeAngelo Gibbs about going to Alabama as well.
-Alabama has backed off of Darnell Salomon.
-Keep an eye on Miami WR commit Ahmmon Richards.
-Again, sources say Raekwon Davis is probably sticking with Alabama. He and Quinnen Williams have been two of our biggest recruiters in this class.
-Alex Leatherwood is solid despite overtures from Florida State and LSU.
-Janarius Robinson has been made a priority by Cristobal (interior line play sure hasn’t been one) and he is on the cusp of a flip.

Free Content from 247 regarding Xavier McKinney

quote:

Alabama landed a verbal from one of the nation’s most versatile defensive backs Wednesday in Roswell (Ga.) High’s 2017 standout Xavier McKinney. His high school coach John Ford predicted this day when McKinney was in the eighth grade.

“I thought he was D1 the moment I first saw him and I would tell anyone that who would listen.” Crimson Tide defensive coordinator Kirby Smart was one of the first to listen to Ford. He was able to get to Roswell for an early evaluation and the two parties built a strong relationship from there.

Commit No. 7 for Alabama in the 2017 recruiting cycle, every verbal is ranked inside the Top247, good for the nation’s No. 3 ranked class thus far according to 247Sports. 247Sports has the 6-foot-1, 170-pound McKinney billed as the country’s No. 6 safety and No. 125 player overall.

“He can play anywhere in the secondary,” Ford stated. “He can play cornerback, strong safety, free safety, boundary corner, field corner, he plays free safety for us and led our team in interceptions the last two years. He’s smooth and instinctive and he can be physical as well. “Really has a smoothness to the game not many people have.” Ford added McKinney is a “great kid and great student.”

Bone on the weekend:

*Had more offered players at this game than LSU 2011. Tons more without.
*Bama believes Dexter Lawrence is a Marcell Dareus type, in good shape for him. Will likely return this season for an official.
*Still expects Ben Davis and MAck Wilson to Bama.
*Marlon Davidson is still in weekly contact, crazy things can happen.
*Nigel Warrior had a great visit, met with Saban personally. Great shape.
*Believes Janarius Robinson sticks with FSU.
*Bama the favorite for Terrell Hall.
*Bama wants Shy Carter back, but UGA is the favorite.
*Feel a lot more positive about keeping Raekwon Davis after his visit this weekend.
*Positive visit for Jeffery Simmons.
*Strong chance Keith Gavin signs with Bama.
*Good shape for AJ Brown.
*Would surprise the staff if Cavin Ridley commits anywhere else.

Free Rivals' Content regarding Xavier McKinney

quote:

"I'm committed to Alabama," the 6-foot-1, 185-pound defensive back said Wednesday. "I want to make sure I do it now because I feel it's a good place for me and it's a place where I think they can get me to the next level as a player."

"Just being up there felt right," said McKinney, who has visited Alabama three times over the past three months. "The atmosphere, their campus and their coaching staff. It was a special feeling when I went up there and that kind of is what led me to this decision."

"It was a crazy atmosphere just being in the stadium," McKinney said. "Seeing all the people before the game on campus walking around, it was just a crazy feeling. You can tell they really love their school there."

"It was great to get to talk to both of them and for them to take time even after a game like that," McKinney said. "Coach Smart has already told me that I would be a good fit because of my length and that's what they look for in defensive backs. That's what they love about me and that's why they want me."

"At first I was thinking I should wait it out, but then I felt like I should make the decision now because Alabama is a great place and the place for me," he said. "They can get me where I want to go and that's to be able to play at the next level. They've produced a lot of NFL players and I feel like this a great program for me to play in and develop and get better."

Premium Content from Rivals regarding Mack Wilson

I can't read the article but the headline says "Wilson Brings Family to Tuscaloosa."

Anyone care to summarize it?

Madison (Miss.) Germantown cornerback and Rivals100 recruit Nigel Knott received his Under Armour All-American Game jersey at his high school on Wednesday. In interviews after the ceremony, Knott said that the schools he's mainly focusing on are Alabama, Florida state, Mississippi State, Ole Miss, Oregon, and USC. You can watch the video below.

There have been 58 five-star running backs in the Rivals.com era. Not surprisingly, over half (31 of 58) have come from Florida, California and Texas. Here is an examination of where they're from, where they ended up and some comments from Rivals.com National Recruiting Director Mike Farrell on some of the best prospects throughout the years.

Free Rivals' Content

quote:

Alabama

Players: Racean Thomas, Oxford, Ala.; T.J. Yeldon, Daphne, Ala.

Overview: Yeldon was the first freshman running back at Alabama to rush for more than 1,000 yards backing up Eddie Lacy. He was the fourth pick of the second round of the 2015 NFL Draft and is emerging as the go-to back for the Jacksonville Jaguars. Yeldon finished with 3,322 rushing yards and 37 touchdowns in Tuscaloosa. It's still early for Thomas, but he has not lived up to the billing to this point. In his freshman season, the former five-star did not put up dynamic numbers and so far this year he has 49 yards on 14 carries and no touchdowns in two games.

Farrell's take: "Yeldon is a starter for the Jaguars and he and Todd Gurley were very similar players in the same year so we expected him to be good. The jury is still out on Thomas. He has a lot to prove to live up to that five-star spot."

California

Players: Darrell Scott, Ventura (Calif.) St. Bonaventure; Reggie Bush, San Diego (Calif.) Helix; Lorenzo Booker, Ventura (Calif.) St. Bonaventure; Joe Mixon, Oakley (Calif.) Freedom, Oklahoma; Dillon Baxter, San Diego (Calif.) Mission Bay; Marc Tyler, Westlake Village (Calif.) Oaks Christian; Stafon Johnson, Los Angeles Dorsey; Marlon Lucky, North Hollywood, Calif.; Najee Harris, Antioch (Calif.) Senior

Overview: California has a long list of five-star running backs, but measured success down the line except for Bush, who had a phenomenal career at USC and remains in the NFL with the San Francisco 49ers. It's still too early to tell on some guys like Mixon, who is just starting to get work in Oklahoma's offense and especially Harris, a 2017 star-in-the-making who has already committed to Alabama.

Farrell's take: "There are a lot of busts in there. Reggie Bush should've been No. 1 in 2003. He had amazing film. Some of these guys got injured, some of them did OK after a transfer and some of them never really amounted to a whole lot. The jury is still out on some of them. I'm really surprised the most by Dillon Baxter, because I thought he had endless amounts of talent and would've been a superstar, but it didn't work out."

Florida

Players: C.J. Spiller, Lake Butler (Fla.) Union County; Noel Devine, North Fort Myers, Fla.; Randy Johnson, Miami (Fla.) Norland; Antone Smith, Pahokee, Fla.; Ciatrick Fason, Jacksonville (Fla.) Fletcher; Demetrius Hart, Orlando (Fla.) Dr. Phillips; Dalvin Cook, Miami (Fla.) Miami Central; Trent Richardson, Pensacola (Fla.) Escambia; James Wilder Jr., Tampa (Fla.) Plant; Sony Michel, Plantation (Fla.) American Heritage; Jacques Patrick, Orlando (Fla.) Timber Creek; Greg Bryant, Delray Beach (Fla.) American Heritage; Mike Bellamy, Punta Gorda (Fla.) Charlotte

Overview: The state of Florida has produced more five-star running backs than any other state and this list includes some real speedsters and game-breakers who were thrills to watch in high school and college. Cook is off to a tremendous season at Florida State and the jury is still out on Patrick, the third-best running back last recruiting cycle. There are some busts, some booms but overall a lot of excitement. And, surprisingly, a lot of top talent that other than Florida State, the in-state schools could not keep home.

Farrell's take: "It is interesting that the Florida schools, other than Florida State, didn't keep these kids home. There are more busts than breakouts there and a lot of it has to do with off-the-field stuff and not talent. Devine was the most dynamic player I've ever seen in high school and that includes Jadeveon Clowney. He was just dynamic. He just didn't have the size. The jury is still out on Cook and Patrick and some others. Bellamy was an enigma off the field in high school and he bounced everything outside but that kid should've been a smaller version of Spiller at Clemson."

Kentucky

Players: Damien Harris, Berea (Ky.) Madison Southern

Overview: Harris, the top-rated running back last recruiting cycle, is waiting his turn in Tuscaloosa behind Derrick Henry and Kenyan Drake. In the first two games this season, Harris has rushed for 78 yards on 17 carries. In January, the five-star back picked Alabama over a tough push from in-state Kentucky and Ohio State.

Farrell's take: "He has superstar potential but he's going to have to wait his turn at Alabama like a lot of guys do. He could be that next Heisman candidate in Tuscaloosa."

Najee Harris shows San Leandro (CA) why he's ranked the No. 1 running back in the class of 2017, via 247Sports. The Alabama commit ran rapid in this game, rushing for 225 yards and two touchdowns. One of his touchdowns just happened to be him stringing together two crazy hurdles to get to the end zone.

Free Bleacher Report Content regarding Xavier McKinney (long)

quote:

At 6'1" and 185 pounds, McKinney has good size for a safety, but it's his aggressiveness and overall instincts on the field that may get him early playing time in college.

He fits the Alabama scheme as a ball hawk who can play each down as either a hard hitter or coverage back creating turnovers via interceptions.

I think our staff likes him fine (upside potential). But he'd be very much a project. I know several (not our staff) guys that just simply don't like him as a prospect and have been hoping for months that he will flip.

The recruiting services certainly love him. He's skyrocketed up the rankings over the last 3-4 months based on his performances at national camps.
