Devin Duvernay Confirms Alabama Visit
Greg Powers
National Recruiting Analyst

No player could potentially make a bigger impact on the offensive side of the ball for a college program in the fall of 2016 than Devin Duvernay. Why you might ask? The answer is easy. Speed. He has the 10.27 100-meter and laser-timed 4.32 40-yard dash speed that can be program altering. His 4.32 40-yard time at The Opening in July topped his 4.38 time at AT&T Stadium at the Nike SPARQ Combine, bringing a smile to his face.

"Yeah that beats a 4.38," Duvernay said with an indication of a smirk. "I am just still working trying to get better each and every day."

Duvernay has always played his college recruitment close to the vest -- especially as it relates to naming favorites, but this time of the year recruiting pictures start to become much clearer. On Friday, Duvernay confirmed with Scout that he had scheduled his first official visit with Alabama (10/10/15). The four-star rated prospect will be traveling to Tuscaloosa on Sachse (Texas) High's bye-week to see the Crimson Tide square off against Arkansas.

Predicting where college football's top 10 uncommitted recruits will play

Plenty of five-star talent remains on the table, and it just so happens that most of it is on defense

National Signing Day is a long way off, but recruiting classes are slowly -- or in Miami's case, not so slowly -- filling up. Plenty of highly-rated prospects are yet to commit, so with roughly six months to go, here are the top 10 uncommitted prospects in the country, per the 247Sports Composite rankings.

The first school the 6'4, 290-pounder (who can run a 4.74 40) mentioned when I interviewed him in 2014 was Alabama, and the Tide have been on this Garden State prospect for a long time. Other SEC schools like Georgia and Auburn, as well as ACC school Clemson are trying to get in the mix.

But my pick for the country's No. 1 overall recruit is Michigan. Gary's former coach Chris Partridge is the new director of recruiting operations, and two former teammates of Gary's, Jabrill Peppers and Juwann Bushell-Beatty, are also in Ann Arbor.

Little, who isn't so little at 6'6, 305, was committed to Texas A&M for more than a year, but re-opened his recruitment in July. The new favorite is Alabama, because Nick Saban's recruiting territory knows no bounds.

No idea. The 6'4.5, 335-pounder is just beginning his recruitment and told me in early May that he was favoring 17 schools. He claims offers from Florida, Florida State, Clemson, Alabama, Georgia, Michigan, and many others. The visits are coming, and we'll learn more as he begins to see campuses.

Derrick Brown, DT, Buford (Ga.) Lanier

The country's No. 4 overall prospect told SB Nation this spring that Georgia was his leader, and I am hard-pressed to even think of which team should be No. 2. Brown going anywhere other than UGA would be a huge shocker.Georgia seems on track to keep a large majority of the state's top prospects home.

Alabama. The country's top linebacker spoke glowingly of Alabama when I interviewed him this spring. Auburn is in the mix, but the Tide have done a great job recruiting him. Like with Brown and Georgia, the state of Alabama's top player going anywhere but Bama would be a shock.

Wilson is an extremely athletic player at 6'2 and 220 pounds. He strikes down running backs and also shows some ability as a pass rusher and in coverage playing for powerhouse Carver.

Isaac Nauta, TE, Bradenton (Fla.) IMG Academy

The nation's top tight end is back on the market after decommitting from Florida State. Originally from Buford (Ga.) High School, I expect Nauta to stay home and pick Georgia over Michigan and TCU. FSU does not appear to be getting back in this race.

Rashard Lawrence, DT, Monroe (La.) Neville

Let's refer to the standard LSU-Louisiana test:

Has LSU showed long-term interest in a Louisiana prospect? Yes. Has the prospect made repeated visits to Baton Rouge? Yes. Then the prospect is a good bet to play at LSU.

Alabama is interested, but doesn't seem to have the same traction with Lawrence that it has with previous Monroe-area prospects like Cameron Robinson.

Trey Blount has Eye on Who Signs Where

Blount checks in at 6-foot-2, 186 pounds and he has been timed in the 40 yard dash at 4.36 seconds. He has taken his talents to Atlanta (Ga.) Pace Academy after playing at Powder Springs Hillgrove his first two years of high school, and he is set to have a big season.

Alabama was the first school to offer Blount — that offer came in April. Since then, Georgia, Miami, and South Carolina have offered the Scout 300 prospect. No favorites yet for Blount, he is looking for a school with strong academics and a place he can play early. That is why he is watching to see who signs with who in 2016 before he signs with a school in 2017.

Blount has four offers right now and he feels he has the best chance to play earliest at South Carolina. He knows Georgia has multiple commitments at his position with other targets still out there, so numbers in 2016 are very important to him.He grew up a Georgia fan, but Blount currently has no favorites. The talented pass-catcher is in no rush to make a decision and he will take his time to see what schools top wideouts sign with before he makes his decision.

Just watched 1:45. He looks ok. Speed doesn't jump out at you. Got caught from behind a couple times. Good frame and potential. He's 2017 so I like that we were in on him early. Means a lot to these kids who offers them their first big time Scholarship

Alabama, Clemson, and Florida State all had Thomas on their campus and those impressed. About Alabama, Thomas said, "I like how hard they pushed the players and the way they work." When it came to Clemson, he called it "like family" there, and FSU's offensive line coach, Rick Trickett put the Seminoles high on his list. Close to 20 schools have offered Thomas and he will be at a lot of games this fall before he cuts his list to 10 late in 2015.He is looking for a school that can educate him at a high level and a place he can get on the field early.

Scout is high on Thomas and he could project as a tackle or guard on the next level. He is all tackle in high school – and a good one. He can get to the second level, he can pull, and he really moves well at tackle in space. He has to improve his strength, play a little more physical, and work on his punch, but he has size, agility, flexibility, and real upside.

According to Scout National Recruiting Analyst Brian Dohn, there is a lot to like about Diggs’ game.
"Diggs is a fluid athlete being recruited to play receiver and cornerback,” Dohn said. “As a receiver, he gets off the line of scrimmage quickly and gets into and out of his breaks at a high rate of speed. He also has the speed to get behind the defense, and he has good hands.
"As a cornerback, he is comfortable and low in his backpedal, and his transitions well into routes. He has good acceleration and can close on the ball.”
In regards to his recruitment, Diggs, who finished last season with 78 catches for 1,008 yards and 15 touchdowns, is down to Alabama, Clemson, LSU Maryland and West Virginia.

How many will Alabama take in this class? I was playing around with the class calculator and had trouble trimming it down below 30.

Who did you add/subtract on the class calculator? I've added Greg Little, Rashard Lawrence, Lyndell Wilson, Ben Davis, Trevon Diggs, Terrell Hall, and Cavin Ridley.

That would give us a score of 303.24 which would have been good enough for third place in the recruiting rankings last year. Not bad considering the slow start we had.

Of course, that doesn't include the incoming Bama bumps.
