All I know is that Gary's area recruiter (Cristobal) has felt we were in really good position for Gary. Could that have changed in the last couple weeks? Sure. But he also tends to mention when he DOESN'T feel like we're in the best of positions. Let's just see how it plays out. Our DL class will be nasty in the worst case of scenarios.

4 DE Xavier Kelly
Wichita (Kan.) East

The Skinny: After a whirlwind tour of 15 schools in May, Kelly announced that he had trimmed his list to eight on June 29. The remaining teams were Alabama, Clemson, Florida State, Georgia, Kansas State, Michigan, Oregon and TCU. A final decision is not expected until after his senior season, during which he plans to take official visits. Three of those official visits are likely to go to Alabama, Michigan and Oregon, according to Kelly.

If today were Signing Day ... This race is really wide open and a lot can happen in the six months between now and when Kelly plans to decide. However, Alabama and Michigan definitely look like the strongest contenders here and he has visited each in the last month.

1 OT Gregory Little
Allen, Texas

The Skinny: The five-star offensive tackle committed to the Texas A&M Aggies the summer before his junior season. He was protecting future Aggie quarterback Kyler Murray at Allen and momentum was swinging toward College Station with Cedar Hill duo DaMarkus Lodge and Richard Moore committing to the Aggies. On Monday, Little decommitted from the Aggies and, in the past, he has not been shy about Alabama being one of the top competitors for his services. Ole Miss, Ohio State and LSU are also coming on strong, along with Auburn, UCLA and USC. He plans to take his official visits and make his final decision on Signing Day.

If today were Signing Day ... Little would sign with the Alabama Crimson Tide. Little said the Tide were the biggest threat to the Aggies at the Rivals Camp Series: Dallas and the Tide remain high on his list. He has already taken a visit to Tuscaloosa and the Crimson Tide have been making a strong push up his list for the last several months.

@schadjoe: Nick Saban says D approach impacted by pace of play. Less subs. Recruiting less specialty players.

I've been re-watching BJ Emmon's Highlight Reel. The run he makes at the 2:45 mark is unbelievable.

He also said "This front 7 has a chance to be very good"............dibs on sig quote (already added)

:insertmotherofGodgif:

He was impressive today...very calm and collected, gave nothing to the media even with a few bombshell questions that could've gone very badly. I was impressed.

He also REALLY seems to like this team from all his complimentary statements

To other SEC opponents...........Prayers sent

I like his vids too, sadly the vibe I got over on the UGA board was tat at one point UGA staff even quit contacting him because he was already viewed as a "non-qualifier" and they gave up hope early on which is weird this early in such a good prospects HS career. Interesting though that may be the reason why there isn't a whole lot more hype surrounding him and he isn't rated any higher because he's a phenomenal RB.

I hope Tdub is correct on it not being as bad as some think.

It kind of reminds me of Eddie Lacy's situation, albeit for a different reason (moving due to Katrina) and even hometown LSU wasn't in the sweepstakes until later on when the situation was less cloudy and more positive and Bama offered Lacy way earlier and stuck by him. Maybe that will be the case with Emmons and he will qualify.

ETA: If I remember right on Lacy the relocation because of Katrina put him behind the 8ball and then an early HS problem with Dyslexia hindered him greatly from being able to catch up, he even had to have the ACT fully read aloud to be able to get a passing grade.

Now that The Opening has concluded, there are likely to be shuffles in the rankings as it relates to the 2016 class.

There were a handful of players, such as 5-star defensive tackle Rashan Gary, who validated their credentials by dominating the action at Nike's World Headquarters in Beaverton, Oregon, last week.

However, there was another group of 4-star standouts who made significant cases to add a fifth star to their resumes.

Three prospects on this list are currently rated outside the top 100, while another seven are rated between Nos. 51-100.

Which prospects made strong cases to move up in the next batch of rankings in the 2016 class?

Tyrie Cleveland

Current Rating: No. 15 WR, No. 96 overall

Case to Add a Fifth Star

While 5-star quarterback and Ole Miss pledge Shea Patterson caught fire en route to winning the Elite 11 MVP honors, his main target in Team Lunar Beast's run to the seven-on-seven tournament title was fueled by his connection with 4-star receiver Tyrie Cleveland.

The former Texas A&M commitment was practically unstoppable in the championship game.

He flashed great hands and the type of acceleration that leaves defensive backs stuck in neutral.

"I just wanted to prove that I'm one of the best receivers in the country and that I could really play," Cleveland said afterward. "So going against these top corners and safeties, it taught me a lot and helped me learn a lot."

When the pressure was on, no receiver delivered more clutch receptions than Cleveland. Given that he's been a productive receiver throughout his prep career, his performance in Oregon was the stamp that validates his standing as one of the nation's elite receivers.

Mecole Hardman

Current Rating: No. 4 athlete, No. 70 overall

Case to Add a Fifth Star

In terms of players listed as athletes, there are only a select few who could actually play on both sides of the ball in college with equal effectiveness.

In the case of 4-star athlete Mecole Hardman, he erased any doubts about his ability to be a lockdown corner by helping lead Team Lunar Beast to the seven-on-seven tournament championship.

He had several pass break-ups and displayed the type of short-area quickness and ball instincts that elite corners typically possess.

He's also a special playmaker with the ball in his hands on offense, but he has various schools looking at him to play both positions in college.

"[Position] doesn't matter," Hardman said. "I can do whatever you want me to do. If it's defense, I'm going to lock you down. If it's receiver, I will produce and make big plays. Different schools like me at different positions."

Given his ceiling at each position, Hardman proved that he's one of the true elite skill talents in the 2016 cycle.

He is currently on campus.

Nigel Warrior

Current Rating: No. 4 safety, No. 78 overall

Case to Add a Fifth Star

No defensive back made as many big plays during the seven-on-seven tournament than 4-star Georgia native Nigel Warrior.

The 5'11" 188-pounder racked up five interceptions and batted away several other passes.

The nation's No. 4 safety proved that he has the type of range and instincts to be a ball hawk at the next level.

After his monster showing at The Opening, Warrior will be in the discussion to be billed as the top overall safety in the 2016 class.

The Opening is now a thing of the past, and six players made verbal commitments during the prestigious event featuring some of the best athletes college football recruiting has to offer.

Two commits chose USC, two chose Oregon and one each committed to Washington and Notre Dame. With the new commitments, some schools watched their recruiting rankings rise, while others saw their rankings fall.

Here is Bleacher Report's updated top 25 recruiting rankings for the class of 2016. Rankings were decided based upon a team's success at landing 5-star recruits, 4-star recruits and the overall ability of a team filling its needs.

4. Alabama

Total commitments: 17

5-star commitments: 0

4-star commitments: 9

Best of the bunch

Offensive tackle Jonah Williams is Alabama's top-ranked commit thus far. He will be called on to lead a talented offensive line class that includes 4-star tackle Charles Baldwin and 4-star guards Deonte Brown and Chris Owens.

Alabama's defensive commits are intriguing. Cornerback Shyheim Carter is big and physical. Inside linebacker Jaquan Yulee is elusive and deceptively fast at 6'0" and 252 pounds. And then there's defensive tackle Kendell Jones Jr., who may be the trimmest 361-pounder recruiting has seen in years. All three defenders are 4-star prospects.

Top targets

It seems each year, head coach Nick Saban gets whomever he wants on the recruiting trail. The Tide, however, are still without a 5-star commit. There's still time—and plenty of commits—as Alabama is eyeing uncommitted 5-stars like defensive tackles Rashan Gary and Rashard Lawrence; defensive end Marlon Davidson; and linebacker Mack Wilson and Ben Davis.

Alabama is also hoping to nab 5-star offensive lineman Greg Little, the No. 1 tackle. If they can add Little and also add 5-star tackle Willie Allen, the Tide would be in a good position to once again finish with the No. 1 recruiting spot.

Senior high school seasons are swiftly approaching for America's premier college football prospects, and this last stretch of summer is a pivotal time to evaluate talent.

Most recruiting departments already have a solid game plan prepared for the road to national signing day, and offers were already extended to elite playmakers earlier in the process. These top-tier athletes often hold more than 30 scholarship opportunities, and many announced college commitments months—or even years—ago.

Our latest glimpse at this group occurred July 6-10, when Elite 11 finals and The Opening took center stage at Nike's world headquarters in Beaverton, Oregon. Based on in-person assessment at the event, film study from previous games and projections of potential, here's how we rank the top 25 recruits of a star-studded 2016 cycle.

25. S Nigel Warrior

School: Peachtree Ridge High School (Suwanee, Georgia)

Size: 5'11", 188 lbs

Recruitment Status: Considering Alabama, Auburn, Georgia, Ohio State and Tennessee, among others

Nigel Warrior is an absolute ball hawk who is enjoying a rise on the recruiting trail. He displays a balanced skill set, setting the tone deep in center field or while supporting his front seven near the line of scrimmage.

His junior season featured 71 tackles, five interceptions and two blocked punts. Warrior provided further proof of his special abilities in Oregon.

"No defensive back at The Opening opened more eyes than Warrior," asserted B/R National Recruiting Analyst Sanjay Kirpalani. "He had five interceptions and numerous pass breakups while displaying the type of range and instincts that should be present in a top safety prospect. After his showing, Warrior made a legit case to be billed as the top safety in the 2016 class."

22. WR Tyrie Cleveland

School: Westfield High School (Houston, Texas)

Size: 6'1 ½", 190 lbs

Recruitment Status: Considering Arizona State, Baylor, Florida, Houston and TCU, among others.

Tyrie Cleveland commanded attention at The Opening, emerging as one of the event's true breakout performers. He flashed elite speed in combine testing (4.32 seconds in the 40-yard dash) and rose to the occasion in seven-on-seven tournament action.

Teammate and Elite 11 MVP Shea Patterson locked onto Cleveland as a key target in crucial moments. This tandem capped off an impressive stretch by connecting on a game-clinching touchdown late in the championship game.

Cleveland, who caught 53 passes for 1,105 yards and 13 touchdowns in 2014, appears to be playing the best football of his life. The production and upside are both in place for a major rise in national rankings.

"In addition to being fast, Cleveland also showed that he was an extremely reliable receiver," B/R National Recruiting Analyst Damon Sayles said. "Cleveland was Shea Patterson's favorite target in seven-on-seven competition, as their team went from winless in pool-play action to the eventual national champion."

21. DT Rashard Lawrence

School: Neville (Monroe, Louisiana)

Size: 6'2", 309 lbs

Recruitment Status: Considering Alabama, LSU, Ohio State, Oklahoma and Ole Miss, among others

Rashard Lawrence is the most natural 3-technique in this class and figures to compete for early snaps at the position in college. His stout lower body provides a strong base that allows him to fire off the snap while maintaining a low center of gravity.

He drives offensive linemen back on initial contact and uses quick feet to maneuver into the backfield. This lateral agility allows Lawrence to stay composed as a running back nears, and when a ball-carrier is in his path, he finishes the play with intimidating force.

Relentless pursuit on each snap is a testament to his character. His recruitment likely boils down to another Alabama-LSU showdown.

16. LB Ben Davis

School: Gordo High School (Gordo, Alabama)

Size: 6'3", 237 lbs

Recruitment Status: Considering Alabama, Auburn, Florida State, LSU and USC, among others

Ben Davis is bigger every time you see him, gaining solid weight that makes him appear college-ready a year shy of enrollment. His frame actually makes you wonder if he could take on a multifaceted role that allows him to line up at defensive end on obvious passing downs.

The son of all-time Alabama tackles leader Wayne Davis is among the most prized uncommitted prospects and remains "wide open" despite a natural allegiance to the Crimson Tide.

"I'm still listening to everybody," he said. "I'm going to figure out my official visits soon and take all five. I probably won't decide until signing day."

Davis possesses impressive length and does a great job wrapping up and bringing ball-carriers to the ground in one-on-one situations. He racked up 85 tackles and four sacks last season, according to AL.com's Wesley Sinor.
