Oddly enough, their fans think a move to the 3/4 will help their recruiting. Most of our fans think that the 3/4 hurts our recruiting. Grass is greener and such...

Derrick Brown says all of his schools are even: Alabama, Auburn, Georgia, Tennessee.

What he is looking for:

quote:

"The biggest factor for me right now is if I don't go to the NFL, I need to find a place that suits me education wise," the 6-foot-4, 321-pounder told AL.com Wednesday at The Opening in Oregon

What he had to say about Alabama:

quote:

ALABAMA: "I visited there back in May. Obviously they've a lot of hardware to prove how good they are. I like Alabama because it's a championship program and I'm trying to get a ring. Coach (Nick) Saban, when I talk to him, is definitely a man of very few words, but he gets his point across."

Interesting part of his UGA quote:

quote:

All of us Georgia boys are real close. I want to give every school a chance -- nothing against UGA. I have no problem with them. I feel no pressure to stay in state. At the end of the day it's my choice. It's up to me."

I don't really believe it, but... LINK

This might have been posted before the purge, but here you go again:

Kendell Jones on current recruits/recruiting other players:

quote:

He bonded quickly with the other five Alabama commits at the event.

"Of course we're going to get along," Jones said. "I mean, Roll Tide. We've got to come out here and show out for 'Bama."

Jones said he's pushing to get five-star recruits Greg Little, an offensive tackle from Allen, Texas and Rashan Gary, a defensive tackle from Paramus, N.J., to join him in the Alabama class.

"The way I perform is the way I can attract them," he said.

Kendell Jones on his own recruitment:

quote:

Other schools haven't stopped their pursuit. Texas is still coming hard, and Jones said he plans to visit Texas and Arkansas in the near future.

Alabama fans shouldn't have anything to worry about, he said.

"If (fans) keep coming at me like they do, in the meantime, they're going to get me," Jones said. "(I like the) family environment there, the education they can get a person, can make me into a real student-athlete and prepare me for the next level."

Chicken, the beauty of Bleacher Report is that nothing is premium and all of the Opening stuff on 247/Rivals is not premium. Can't we post all of it if it's not premium?

I guess as long as you link, you can break the multiple paragraphs articles down into multiple smaller posts with links, so long as it isn't more than two paragraphs

I'm not sure what the point is. If it's to not post premium, I haven't been because I don't have access to premium articles anymore, as I found them to usually be no more informative than the free stuff I can find online.

Maybe it is to improve the readability of the thread.

Barton Simmons had this to say about Jawon Pass:

quote:

10. Jawon Pass (Uncommitted) – It's a pleasant surprise to see Pass sneak into this top 11 because early in the week he looked like he was a tier below as a passer from some of the other arms in attendance. But every day Pass gained confidence and every day he looked more comfortable. When he got his opportunities in tournament play, Pass looked like he belonged.

Yeah a lot of mine have been deleted from last night also, and they had links. I love it when rules are enforced that nobody else knows about until it's too late.

Has Auburn given up on in-state linebacker Lyndell Wilson?

quote:

Wilson plays right in Auburn's backyard, less than 60 miles away at Carver High School in Montgomery. But during Thursday's competition at The Opening in Oregon, he told AL.com he hasn't heard from the Tigers since his last visit to the Plains, which was "around Easter."

"It's just adversity," Wilson said. "I didn't take it hard. I'm interested in who's interested in me. I haven't talked to them in a while, so I really don't know what's going on. I still like Auburn, and there's no hard feelings about them."

So does Wilson think Auburn assumes he's Alabama-bound?

"I mean, I guess so," he said. "I have no favorites. I'm interested in everyone that's offered me and I'm taking in the opportunities. Me and my head coach are supposed to sit down and talk about it. I don't know (if I'll be back at Auburn), but I'm supposed to be going to Bama July 17."

Mack on his skills:

quote:

He is ranked as the nation's top linebacker and the No. 10 overall prospect in the 247Sports Composite, but is out to prove he's even more talented than those numbers suggest.

"I want to show that I'm not a typical linebacker who can just hit and fill gaps," he said. "I want to show that I'm a linebacker who can cover, pass rush and do anything to get the job done."

Sam Bruce is "very solid" in his commitment to the Miami Hurricanes, but plans to take all five of his official visits this fall...

The 5-foot-10, 180-pounder last visited Tuscaloosa when he was a freshman.

"It was a while ago, but my time there was a great experience," Bruce told AL.com Thursday during The Opening in Oregon. "I got to talk it up with Coach (Mario) Cristobal and Coach (Nick) Saban. They are great guys and I'm definitely looking forward to going back up there. I talk to those guys almost every day."

AJ Brown quote:

quote:

In fact, the 6-foot-1, 220-pound Brown said at The Opening that Alabama was recruiting him "the hardest out of everybody."

"They're talking to me every chance they get, almost every day," said Brown, a standout at Starkville High School ranked as the No. 132 overall prospect in the country. "That plays a good part in it, just calling me and asking me what I'm doing, checking in, stuff like that. You can't go wrong with Alabama, that's a nice place."

Najee Harris:

quote:

Najee Harris is one of six Alabama commitments participating in The Opening this week in Oregon, but the five-star running back prospect hasn't said much when it comes to his recruitment.

"I'm still open to everybody," Harris told AL.com Wednesday. "I'm really focused on my upcoming season, so with all the recruitment stuff, I'm not trying to touch on it too much. I'm doing an extreme amount of training -- I can't even explain how much. Speed, hitting holes faster, agility, blocking, and being a team captain. Too much, really."

Najee quote on why he committed and how our staff responds to him still looking around:

quote:

"It's just somewhere I want to be," he said.

The 6-foot-1, 210-pounder from Antioch, Calif., has recently been targeted by Georgia and Ohio State and is planning visits to Athens and Columbus this summer. He said he keeps the Alabama staff in the loop about which schools he's interested in.

"I try to reach out to them, about once a week or once every two weeks because I'm so busy," Harris said. "They said (my visits to other schools) are fine. I still have time. They're not pressuring me. They're telling me to go wherever I feel comfortable."

Can a quarterback leave Canada, play his senior season in Alabama and impress college scouts enough to play big-time college football? That's the plan for Nathan Rourke, a senior quarterback at Edgewood Academy who transferred a few months ago from suburban Toronto. He has spent the last few months transitioning from Canada's 12-man football and learning the nuances of America's 11-man version.

"It's safe to say it gives you a better chance" to impress college scouts, he said. "It isn't too different. It's been a pretty easy transition, pretty smooth."

If we are dead set on taking two QBs this year, and Pass goes elsewhere, I wonder if this could be our Philip Ely type recruit? LINK
