27. 4-star DE Marlon Davidson
Height/Weight: 6’4”, 260 lbs
High School: Carver High (Montgomery, Alabama)
247Sports Ranking: No. 2 SDE, No. 27 overall
Bleacher Report Score: 91/100
Considering Alabama, Arizona State, Auburn, Clemson and Georgia
Marlon Davidson is the younger brother of former Auburn defensive end Kenneth Carter.
Despite his brother’s connection to the Tigers, it’s in-state rival Alabama that has turned the heat up on Davidson, per BamaOnline.
Davidson checks in as the third-best prospect from the state of Alabama in the 2016 class.
Bleacher Report Analysis
Davidson has the size and frame that can help him play early in his career regardless of where he lands. He does a great job of setting the edge versus the run, and his power is tough to handle for linemen who are trying to keep him away from the quarterback. He needs to work on developing more pass-rushing moves among other things, but the tools are there for him to be dominant player in the future.

26. 5-star OLB Ben Davis
Height/Weight: 6'4", 230 lbs
High School: Gordo (Gordo, Ala.)
247 Ranking: No. 4 OLB/No. 26 Overall
Bleacher Report Score: 88/100
The offer list continues to grow for Ben Davis, who is now entertaining interest from more than 20 schools. Davis is the No. 2 player in the state of Alabama, and he's a prime target for both Alabama and Auburn. He's made several unofficial visits to both schools.
Per 247Sports, Davis also is considering Florida, Georgia and LSU in what appears to an early race for his commitment. Whichever school lands the 5-star prospect will get an outstanding player.
Bleacher Report Analysis
Looking at Davis' size alone, he's everything a college linebackers coach wants in a prospect. He is a tall, quick linebacker who possesses good length and a lot of athleticism. An instinctive player, Davis has shown that he can be a decent pass-rusher in addition to playing in his zone.

22. 5-star DT Derrick Brown
Height/Weight: 6'4", 309 lbs
High School: Lanier (Buford, Georgia)
247Sports Ranking: No. 5 DT, No. 22 overall
Bleacher Report Score: 95/100
Considering: Alabama, Auburn, Clemson, Georgia and Mississippi State
Derrick Brown's most recent visit came late last month when he attended a junior day at Alabama, as detailed by Shane Youngblood of BamaOnLine. As noted by Jake Rowe of Dawgs247, Brown turned in a dominant junior season by registering 101 tackles, including 26 for loss, with 17.5 sacks.
He's also accumulated more than 20 offers, per Rowe.
Bleacher Report Analysis
The first thing that stands out with Brown is how well he moves for being 300-plus pounds. He can make plays sideline to sideline and has great power at the point of attack.
Brown is also quick off the ball, which makes him almost unfair to block at the prep level. He packs a punch when he tackles as well. Overall, Brown appears to be one of the most dominant players in the 2016 class, regardless of position.

17. 5-star QB Shea Patterson
Height/Weight: 6'2"/195 lbs
High School: Calvary Baptist Academy (Shreveport, Louisiana)
247Sports Ranking: No. 3 pro-style quarterback; No. 17 overall
Bleacher Report Score: 97/100
Uncommitted: Offers include LSU, Ole Miss, Texas A&M, Notre Dame, USC and Texas.
Shea Patterson initially committed to Arizona as a freshman but eventually wavered on that verbal pact as several other offers arrived. He decommitted from the Wildcats last summer. His recent campus visits include Texas A&M and USC.
Bleacher Report Analysis
Patterson is more of a true "dual-threat quarterback" than several of the players listed in that category (8/10 mobility). He evades defenders to buy time behind the line of scrimmage and offers exciting improvisational abilities on every play, so receivers are always working to find space even when things break down.
He's been steady throughout the past two seasons, completing 63 percent of passes for 5,083 yards and 72 touchdowns. Patterson's seven interceptions in 422 pass attempts illustrate his intelligence at the position.
His ability to throw ropes while operating on the run is special (20/20 arm strength), and he exudes confidence that must be contagious with his teammates. Keep Patterson in the discussion as America's top quarterback prospect.

7. 5-star OLB Lyndell Wilson
Height/Weight: 6'2", 220 lbs
High School: Carver (Montgomery, Alabama)
247 Ranking: No. 2 OLB/No. 7 Overall
Bleacher Report Score: 91/100
Lyndell Wilson is determined to keep all of his options open, but on Jan. 22, he announced his top seven schools via Twitter. Oregon, Alabama, Auburn, Louisville, Tennessee, Georgia and USC all made the list, although there is still time for other schools to make their way up Wilson's ladder.
Alabama is a strong contender in Wilson's recruiting race. He's made multiple unofficial visits to Tuscaloosa, but he's also visited Auburn and Tennessee, according to 247Sports.
Bleacher Report Analysis
Although Wilson is an outstanding tackler and a physical athlete, Wilson's instincts are among his best qualities. He is quick to read a play and make the right decision. Wilson brings a level of toughness to a defensive front seven, and his tenacity will be welcomed at the next level.

3. 5-star DE Shavar Manuel
Height/Weight: 6’5”, 262 lbs
High School: IMG Academy (Bradenton, Florida)
247Sports Ranking: No. 1 SDE, No. 3 overall
Bleacher Report Score: 93/100
Considering Alabama, Florida State and Miami
Shavar Manuel is the nation’s top overall defensive end, and he’s the No. 3 player overall in the 2016 class.
He transferred from Blake High School in Tampa to IMG Academy in the offseason.
Manuel will team with Rahshaun Smith to give IMG a set of bookends who rate among the nation’s top pass-rushing duos.
Bleacher Report Analysis
Blake is a powerful force who overwhelms most offensive linemen on the prep level. He’s got a nice burst off the line of scrimmage, and he’s deceptively fast coming around the edge. He’s a physical specimen with a lot of raw ability. He can improve on techniques such as using his hands to shed blocks and setting the edge against the run. His ceiling is high if he continues to develop.

2. 5-star DT Rashan Gary
Height/Weight: 6'4", 285 lbs
High School: Paramus Catholic (Scotch Plains, New Jersey)
247Sports Ranking: No. 1 DT, No. 2 overall
Bleacher Report Score: 95/100
Considering: Alabama, Michigan, Notre Dame, Ohio State and Penn State
Rashan Gary has offers from a number of top programs, and he visited Rutgers, Maryland and Penn State for games last season. According to Evan G. Watkins of VTScoop, Gary's most recent trip was to Virginia Tech for a junior day earlier this month.
Bleacher Report Analysis
Gary is a freakish athlete who has the ability to play defensive end. He does an excellent job of keeping a low pad level off the snap and then using his hands and power to knock his opponent off balance.
Gary has the speed and the quickness to chase plays laterally, and his ability as a pass-rusher from the interior is what separates him in a loaded class at defensive tackle. He is a powerful force whose game translates favorably to the next level.

With Alabama's 2015 recruiting class signed and in the books, it's time to get familiar with a new batch of prospects. Over the next several days, AL.com will be providing position-by-position looks at Alabama's top targets in the 2016 recruiting cycle. Today, we're analyzing the linebacker position.
TOP LINEBACKER TARGET
Ben Davis (6-foot-4, 230 pounds | Gordo, Ala.)
The state of Alabama will have a pair of five-star prospects at the position, but the Crimson Tide have a better shot at landing Davis, the son of Alabama's all-time leading tackler Wayne Davis. Ben Davis is rated as the No. 26 prospect in the country in the 247Sports composite. He's listed as an outside linebacker and though Alabama appears to be an overwhelming favorite, don't count out Auburn and other top SEC schools.
3 MORE TO WATCH
Lyndell "Mack" Wilson (6-foot-2, 20 pounds | Montgomery, Ala.)
Wilson and Davis will battle it out for the state's top prospect in 2016 along with Wilson's Carver teammate, defensive end Marlon Davidson. Alabama and Auburn will battle for Wilson, rated as the No. 7 player in the 247Sports composite and also as a five-star recruit. Wilson has been to both places multiple times and has numerous offers from around the country.
Tre Lamar (6-foot-4, 250 pounds | Roswell, Ga.)
Lamar is a four-star inside linebacker with some size. He released a top five that included Alabama, so the Crimson Tide are squarely in the mix for the No. 153 player in the 247Sports composite. Tennessee, South Carolina, Mississippi State and Clemson are also in the top 5. He'll likely take multiple visits to Alabama this spring and summer.
Devin White (6-foot-1, 235, Springhill, La.)
Running back or linebacker? His 247Sports profile lists him as both, and Alabama is in the mix trying to get another top prospect out of Louisiana. It's not easy, but the Crimson Tide can usually get one or two out of there in each class. LSU is a big favorite.
IN-STATE WATCH
P.J. Blue (6-foot-3, 205 pounds | Jemison, Ala.)
Alabama is a state with some top linebacker talent in 2016, but Blue is a rising star. He picked up an Alabama offer at a recent junior day, but did not commit. He grew up an Alabama fan and if the Crimson Tide push for a commitment, the coaches could get one. Clemson has offered and he held a UAB offer before the program shut its doors. HIGHLIGHTS. Keep an eye on Hoover's Jeremiah Moon and Central-Phenix City's Jamal Couch as well.

Meyer got the best of Nick Saban en route to winning his third national title. But can he end the Tide’s supremacy in the month of February?
Alabama has only three pledges in its 2016 class thus far. However, two of those—5-star athlete Shyheim Carter and 4-star athlete Demetris Robertson—rank among the nation’s top 40 prospects overall in the 2016 cycle.
The Tide have a host of elite prospects that they are heavily involved with, such as 5-star defensive end Shavar Manuel and 5-star in-state linebackers Ben Davis and Lyndell Wilson.
While teams like Florida State, Ohio State and USC will once again try to topple the Tide, Saban and his staff have laid the groundwork necessary to put Alabama in position to continue its streak of signing top-rated recruiting classes.

Doin work son! How important is it to land a star LB? I feel like they haven't locked down the caliber LB that we've all gotten used to.

We offered a JUCO OT today:
Charles Baldwin
He must be pretty elite to get an offer this early as a Junior College player.

Demetris Robertson says he is 100% solid to Alabama.
He also said Saban told him they want him to start out on offense. Thank God.

I'm all for letting Robertson do whatever the hell he wants at Alabama up to and including Bobby Williams' coaching position.
