I just looked at last year's Megathread. We were on page 353 this time last year.

COMMITMENT IMPACT: JAQUAN YULEE
Michael Clark
Regional Recruiting Analyst

Jaquan Yulee committed to Alabama on Monday evening, and Scout takes a look at what the Crimson Tide are getting, and how he fits into their class.

Committed Over: Jaquan Yulee committed to Alabama over other finalists Florida State, Michigan State, North Carolina and Virginia Tech.

Rated: Yulee is a four-star prospect, No. 2 inside linebacker in the country and the 54th-ranked overall prospect in the 2016 class.

Scouting Report: Yulee is the prototypical inside linebacker. He has a great combination of size, speed and strength.

He has great instincts and reads and reacts to plays very quickly. Yulee plays sideline to sideline and is a very physical.

Yulee is also a smart football player. He understands different defensive schemes and does a nice job of putting himself in position to make plays.

Like all players, there are areas where Yulee needs to improve. I think pass coverage is the main part of his game where he must continue to get better.

Inside linebackers are not asked to drop into coverage very often in high school, so much of this is due to lack of experience. But once he gets to college, I expect him to improve quickly with increased practice.

Analysis: Yulee is the prototypical inside linebacker. He has a great combination of size, speed and strength. He has great instincts and reads and reacts to plays very quickly. He plays sideline to sideline and is a very physical. Overall, he is one of the best linebacker prospects I have seen. -- Michael Clark

Recruiting Impact: Yulee is a huge pickup for Alabama and his addition gives them good momentum going into the summer.

Yulee is commitment No. 13 for the Crimson Tide and their third in the past four days for 2016. With his commitment, Alabama now has the 7th-ranked class in the country.

Landing Yulee is also big because he is from the Tidewater region in Virginia, which produces numerous big-time prospects each year. Going forward, this will help the Crimson Tide and could lead to more success in the area.

Yulee is also a leader and the type of player other guys want to play with in college, so look for him to become a valuable recruiter for Alabama.

Final Thought: Yulee is one of the top linebackers in the country and physically ready to play in college right now.

Alabama is known for their depth and while Yulee may not have to play as a true freshman, he is more than capable. Whenever he does get his shot, I expect him to take full advantage and make an immediate impact.

He’s one of the best linebackers I’ve seen at the high school level and has a chance to become an anchor for the Crimson Tide’s defense in the future.

In case you haven't been keeping count- #Alabama has six commitments in the last seven days. Three in 2016, three in 2017. @TideSports

We've definitely become a complacent fanbase. I've been disappointed in the lack of posts on here, to be honest, this year.

Hearing Yulee kept things very silent prior to his commitment to #Alabama. #Bama coaches were not aware of decision until the announcement.

Agreed. The decline in posting is not for a lack of effort from TideSaint and I. It's hard to believe that tMEGATHREAD used to go for over a thousand pages. Now we will be lucky to reach 500.

Apparently Trey fricked the S.O. of one of the admins because his stay in banland has been much longer than anticipated. Garfield has been MIA as well.

Yep. I'm relatively new still. You two guys have pulled your weight and then some. The rest of us need to pick it up.

Sorry I haven't been around much. I've lurked a bit, but recruiting got off to a slow start and I got busy with school and my student organization. I may be more active while the summer lasts. Looks like things are heating up nicely

If we do sign Yulee, I hope he can help us deliver Devon Hunter next yr. Our DB recruiting for next year is looking great. We're in very good shape for DeAngelo Gibbs out of GA and already in good standing with Jeffrey Okudah out of TX. That's the #1 CB and S nationally for 2017.

We will definitely need some corner and safety depth, as Geno, Cyrus, and Washington will be gone this year and Jackson will be gone next year.

I'm curious to see how things will shake out in the near future at DB. Will Tony Brown lock down a spot at corner? When will Humphrey see some playing time? (the sooner the better IMO) Will Ronnie Harrison unseat one of the starting safeties? Will Ronnie Clark stay at RB or move back to S? Will Deionte Thompson stay at WR? How will Minkah and Sheffield fit in?

What quarterback Jalen Hurts' commitment says about the future of Alabama's offense
Print Email Drew Champlin | dchamplin@al.com By Drew Champlin |
Jalen Hurts won't be the highest-ranked recruit in Alabama's 2016 class, but he'll be the one talked about the most.

That's the life of a quarterback. Hurts, a four-star dual-threat passer from Channelview, Texas, announced his commitment to Alabama late Friday night after rumors of a pledge came Friday afternoon.

Hurts is one of the top quarterbacks in the country. He's competing at the Elite 11 semifinals in Los Angeles this weekend. He had offers from Texas A&M, Mississippi State, Kansas State, Texas Tech and West Virginia.

But he's another player in the mold of what Crimson Tide offensive coordinator Lane Kiffin wants the most. He is Kiffin's second quarterback commitment at Alabama, joining five-star recruit Blake Barnett from last year. Kiffin turned dual-threat Blake Sims into a record-breaking passer his senior season despite Sims taking very limited snaps in his first three years.

The quarterbacks drawing the most rave reviews from spring - maybe mostly off potential - are the youngster Barnett and redshirt freshman David Cornwell, who can also take off and run as evidenced by 755 rushing yards as a high school junior.

Cornwell was recruited as a pro style passer while Barnett and Hurts were listed as dual-threats, but rest assured you'd better be an efficient runner if you're playing for Kiffin in this offense.

The other quarterbacks listed as prime Alabama targets were Columbus, Ga., standout Jawon Pass and Woody Barrett of Orlando. Barrett committed to Auburn earlier this week and many thought Pass would fall to Alabama before Hurts' commitment.

Last summer, Anaheim, Calif. dual-threat standout Travis Waller got all the attention before Barnett's name surfaced when he decommited from Notre Dame, then committed to Alabama in June following a visit. Waller signed with Oregon and has legally changed his name to Travis Jonsen.

Pass set a decision date for July 13, with Alabama, Auburn, Florida, Louisville, North Carolina and Virginia Tech as his finalists. That was before Alabama and Auburn got quarterback commitments. Maybe Alabama presses for a second quarterback signee if guys transfer, but it's looking initially like Pass will pledge elsewhere.

But get used to seeing Alabama sign quarterbacks like Barnett and Hurts.

Hurts' commitment gives Alabama 11 for the class of 2016. The Crimson Tide's class now ranks No. 7 in the 247Sports composite rankings and it's poised to climb higher with 5-stars Ben Davis (linebacker, Gordo) and Lyndell Wilson (linebacker, Montgomery) among several targets with high ratings.

Hurts became the second player to choose Alabama on Friday, following junior college standout offensive tackle Charles Baldwin.

I think so. I don't believe phan really is an auburn fan. He rarely dialogues about his own team, so that makes me doubt seriously that he is who he claims to be. Patton brought it up, and I am inclined to agree with him.
