I think the most surprising one is Drake. I figured Yeldon would be gone. Does that mean Drake will get enough carries to be a high round draft pick? Or will he be a wtf draft guy ala Vinnie.

Yeldon yes. Drake wouldn't surprise me to return even if Henry passes him on the depth chart.

Mario didn't promise him they would be gone. All he did was imply that they could be. That's just a basic recruiting pitch imo. He can't tell a recruit that we'll have 7-8 RB on scholarship.

Having said that, TJ is almost a lock to go if he stays healthy. I think Drake will go because he's been in the doghouse a time or two. He has the measurables to tear it up at the combine as well. With the depth we currently have, I don't see the staff pleading with either of them to return for another year, especially Drake.

We keep this up with the RB offers and I'm gonna run out of space in the RB post on the first page.

Non-VIP post from Chris Walsh of BOL:

Per Ben Moore from our Georgia State site, Keary Colbert, who coached at Georgia State last year, has joined the Alabama staff

I'm guessing he'll be doing something like offensive quality control.

He played WR under Carroll at USCw and was a 2nd round draft pick by the Panthers around 7-8 years ago.

Martez Ivey article:

quote:

Martez Ivey wants to find out what Alabama and Auburn are all about. This weekend, he's going to see for himself. Ivey, a 6-foot-6, 280-pound five-star offensive tackle from Apopka, Fla., is set to visit Alabama on Friday and Auburn on Saturday this weekend.
"Just trying to figure out why they always get the best players," Ivey told 247Sports of the Crimson Tide. "That's what I want to know. Obviously it's something they are doing down there."
Ivey told 247Sports that persistent contact from Auburn head coach Gus Malzahn and offensive line coach J.B. Grimes convinced him to visit the Plains, as well. "When I talk to Auburn, they usually get the whole staff on the phone," he said.
Ivey, rated as the No. 2 offensive tackle and No. 5 overall prospect in the nation by 247Sports, grew up a Florida fan, but said his decision will be about more than just who he pulled for as a kid.
"I just always wanted to be a Gator, but ... it's about school now," he told 247Sports. "I don't really have a favorite. If I were to make a top three, (Florida) would be in the top three. Definitely (considering) Auburn and Alabama, Florida State and LSU and Ohio State and South Carolina and Oklahoma."

So our counter to the HUNH is to field a team that lines up with running backs at every position?

He's a teammate of Darius Slayton. Offering two db teammates from Georgia worked out for us last year... or not.

In all seriousness, Abernathy is a better football player than Slayton, imo. He hasn't played much corner and isn't as tall, but the dude can make plays
