Between the fringe Auburn and LSU fans absolutely everything that happens in the world of college football is some sort of secret ploy by CNS to hurt their programs. Textbook paranoia.

The more I hear about the REC from our rivals, the more impressed I am.

Seriously. The REC should give lessons to the CIA on how to run black ops.

I'm wondering what the budget is for the REC. We have to pay players, recruits, recruits' coaches, refs, police departments, SEC scheduling office, NCAA compliance, etc.

Q&A with Mekhi Brown from Bleacher Report (free content):

quote:

Mekhi Brown stands out among America's premier 2015 defensive prospects. The Georgia standout is a 5-star recruit and ranks third nationally at strong-side end in 247Sports composite ratings.

He commands national attention for his stature and effectiveness on the football field. Brown stands at 6'6" and is still progressing as a polished prospect from a fundamental standpoint.

The Carver High School (Columbus, Ga.) star posted solid statistics during his junior season. Brown tallied 56 tackles and five sacks, according to 247Sports, helping lead the Tigers to an 11-win campaign.

He quickly emerged as a coveted recruit, earning scholarship offers from Florida, Tennessee, Auburn, Clemson and Alabama. Brown verbally committed to the Crimson Tide during his sophomore year.

Although he remains a loyal Alabama pledge, Brown continues to keep his options open as the process progresses. The intriguing athlete joined Bleacher Report to discuss his evolving skill set, Nick Saban's recruiting tactics and an updated top five.

Bleacher Report: You were the second member of Alabama's 2015 class. What are your thoughts on the players Nick Saban brought to Tuscaloosa in the 2014 recruiting cycle?

Mekhi Brown: It's the norm. Coach Saban does a great job and players know Alabama is a place to go if you want to win. They say it might be his best recruiting class ever.

BR: Do you personally know any of the incoming 2014 freshmen?

MB: I know Christian Miller, Cam Robinson and Hootie [safety Laurence Jones].

BR: Is there a player in the 2014 class who you're excited to see play at the next level?

MB: Definitely Christian. He's really destructive and I think he'll do well.

BR: How would you evaluate yourself as a football player at this point?

MB: People say I’m quick off the ball and I have good burst. But I’m still raw. I have to work on my technique and coordination. Playing in college will really help with that because you spend so much time working on that stuff with the coaches.

BR: Despite being committed to Alabama, you've made it clear that you're considering other options. How does Coach Saban feel about that?

MK: He encouraged me to check out other schools. They told me to go ahead and look at other programs and see if anyone out there is better than Alabama.

BR: What are some of the other schools you're taking a hard look at?

MK: I have a top five right now. Georgia, Alabama, Florida State, USC and Stanford. But that could change. I'm still waiting to see what other offers come in. It's only a matter of time until more come in.

BR: Which programs reach out to you most these days?

MK: Georgia hits me up a lot. So does Florida State. Basically everyone. Definitely USC and Stanford.

BR: Do you attempt to recruit other players to Alabama?

MK: Whoever gets offered. I reach out to them to tell them what’s good about Alabama, talk about the team and the school.

BR: Has football always been a top priority in your life?

MK: I was really a basketball player and just played football for fun. Then I felt like football could be a money-maker. Being 6’6” in football is a lot different than being that size in basketball so I thought it would give me the best opportunity.

BR: Do you know many of your fellow top 2015 recruits?

MK: I played at Rising Seniors and met some of those guys. It was a great experience. I’ve gone against some good offensive linemen before, but not any like that. I won the matchups but they gave me a run for my money.

BR: Have you spent much time in Tuscaloosa?

MK: I’ve been there a lot and I’ll be there again soon. I plan on going to the Texas A&M game next season (Oct. 18) but I’ll be there again before then.

Christian Bell made Bleacher Report's "Underrated Players Who Will Rise in the Summer Rankings for 2015" list:

quote:

Current ranking: 227th

Christian Bell is a 4-star defensive end from Hoover High School in Alabama. At 6'4" and 215 pounds, he's a tad light in the pants to play in the defensive trenches, but Bell can rush the passer.

He displays good first-step quickness to attack offensive tackles at the snap, plus he has impressive range and athleticism. After a couple combines and camps of beating blockers during pass-rushing drills, Bell should rise in the rankings.

Don't be surprised if Bell pulls the trigger with Alabama soon.

Well, as the power behind the Illuminati, I'm sure the REC's resources are quite considerable.
