ESPN's Brian Fremeau, a college football analyst who uses advanced statistics to rank teams, has released his preseason projections after spring practice, and Alabama sits at the top of the list. His formula uses five years of data that takes into account returning starters, returning production and "quarterback" reliance to determine future success. Fremeau predicts Alabama to finish 11-1 and 7-1 in the SEC and says at Ole Miss, at LSU and vs. Auburn are the Crimson Tide's toughest games in 2014.

That doesn't even include Bo Scarbrough or David Cornwell.

Stanley Norman Highlights

Gardena (Calif.) Serra athlete Stanley Norman reports a new offer from Alabama. The 6-foot, 180-pounder who is known as 'Scrappy', also holds offers from UCLA, USC, Oklahoma, Arizona State, Cal, Florida State, Miami, Notre Dame, and Tennessee, among others. Norman's Crystal Ball is split between UCLA (78%) and USC (22%). He ranks as the no. 73 overall prospect in the 247Sports Composite.

Here are the blurbs for each of our "picks":
quote:
4. Cleveland Browns – Cameron Robinson, West Monroe (La.) - Video
Yes, the Browns have, perhaps, the game's best offensive tackle in Joe Thomas. But they need to shore up the other side of the line. They get a good one in Robinson, who was ranked by some recruiting services as the top recruit in the country.
quote:
6. Atlanta Falcons – Da'shawn Hand, Woodbridge (Woodbridge, Va.) - Video
The Falcons would like to get a pass rusher and Hand fits that mold nicely. He had 56 sacks in his career, including 16 as a senior.
quote:
13. St. Louis Rams – Tony Brown, Ozen (Beaumont, Texas) - Video
The last name is the same, but the position is different. The Rams continue to work on the defense, adding a speedy cornerback in Tony Brown to go along with defensive tackle Andrew Brown, whom they selected with the No. 2 pick.
quote:
15. Pittsburgh Steelers – Marlon Humphrey, Hoover (Ala.) - Video
The Steelers need a cornerback and a wide receiver. There's better value at the top of the 247Sports list in the secondary so Pittsburgh will take Humphrey, whose father Bobby played in the NFL.
quote:
20. Arizona Cardinals – Rashaan Evans, Auburn (Ala.) - Video
The Arizona defense is one of the best in the league, but the Cardinals continue to stock up on that side of the ball by selecting Evans at linebacker.
quote:
29. New England Patriots – Christian Miller, Spring Valley (Columbia, S.C.) - Video
The Patriots would prefer to take a defensive tackle, but they can't pass on the talented Miller, who could give them a talented pass-rushing specialist. Miller had 24 sacks and 25 tackles for loss last year.

According to Adam Gorney from Rivals.com, elite 2016 quarterback Kj Costello (Rancho Santa Margarita, CA/ Santa Margarita Catholic) will camp at Michigan and Alabama this summer.
Costello is a 6-foot-4, 213-pound pro-style quarterback with early offers from California, Florida State, Miami, and Tennessee. He has a four-star ranking, with a 92 overall grade.

New Smyrna Beach (Fla.) offensive lineman Jalen Merrick expects Alabama offensive line coach Mario Cristobal by his school this week for an evaluation.
"I've been talking to him two times a week by phone ever since my Florida offer," the 6-foot-5, 290-pound Merrick said of Cristobal.
Merrick, a three-star prospect according to 247Sports, is still waiting for an offer from the Crimson Tide, but in addition to the Gators, Georgia, Michigan State, South Carolina, Oklahoma and others have already extended tenders.

ETA: Holy shite this kid abuses the hell out of defensive linemen.

Though he did not make it to the pressure chamber, Quinten Dormady of Boerne, Texas, also looked outstanding on the day. After missing his entire junior season with a shoulder injury, the one-time four-star prospect is beginning to come back to form. He has already picked up a couple offers this spring and more should be on the way.
Man I hope this kid comes to camp and throws for Saban. I think we would be getting a steal if we were to somehow land him.

BOL posted a story about the Top 5 Recruiting Battles between Alabama and Auburn for the 2015 class. Here's the five:
Tyler Carr - Do.Not.Want.
Hale Hentges - Summertime decision; may make his 3rd trip to Tuscaloosa later this month
Martez Ivey - Highly doubt he leaves Florida
Daron Payne - Bama lock
Jovon Robinson - Biggest battle between the two schools
The only two I really think we need are Payne and Hentges. We're stacked at RB and don't need Carr's big, goofy arse. Ivey would be great, but why would he come here when he'd have CRob in front of him?

Dallas Warmack, four-star offensive guard from Mays High School in Atlanta, Ga., committed to the University of Alabama last July. He returned to Tuscaloosa for A-Day and spent time with coaches, players, prospects and even his older brother, Chance.
"It was nice," said Warmack. "Everything went well. I talked to the coaches. The game was good. I saw some things they need to improve. Cam Robinson impressed me out there.
"I talked to some of the coaches. They were just telling me not to let other schools persuade me. It was cool to be out there with Chance. We did a lot of group pictures with the fans and stuff like that."
The main schools still in hot pursuit of the Tide verbal pledge include SEC heavyweights.
"Auburn, Georgia, Ole Miss and South Carolina are all coming after me pretty hard," he said. "I know I will visit Georgia this summer. Ole Miss wants me to come to their camp. I will probably try to go to South Carolina and Auburn.
"Coach McClendon from Georgia has been by this spring. Coach Kiffin from Ole Miss, and Coach Garner from Auburn have also visited. Coach Thompson (Alabama) will visit on Tuesday.
Warmack stays in close contact with Coach Thompson and Alabama offensive line coach Mario Cristobal. His commitment to the Tide remains solid.
"I don't consider any of the schools a serious threat to Alabama," Warmack said. "Not for real. I just want to enjoy the process. I am also graduating in December."

Barton Simmons on 2016 5-star QB Jacob Eason (after I asked if it just a matter of time for him to commit to Notre Dame seeing as his dad played there):
quote:
I don't see him signing w ND unless they change up their offense. He's a pro style kid and he recognizes that ND's system is more catered towards the more athletic guys.

I sort of just see the 2015 QB, no matter who it is, as a body. I don't ever expect him to play. But the 2016 QB has a shot one day, imo. Obviously for all I know the 2015 QB will start a billion games and win the Heisman, but I'd love Eason in our 16 class, of course. I'm thinking if Kiffin shows him some things, he could get on board with the Tide.
Posted on 5/5/14 at 5:02 pm to TideSaint
For the record, I've been very pessimistic in regards to Eason because I assumed he was all ND. Having said that, this kid is probably the best Sophomore QB I've ever seen. He is fricking legit.
Watch his film.

Eason is who I want most in next year's class for sure.
And now that I've said it out loud he won't be coming.

Shoulda seen my Sophomore film.
I didn't even start as a Sophomore. But I did play a lot because the starter was injured a lot.
But my lightning quick release could not be defended.
It could however, be intercepted.

Eason looks just like Tom Brady with his throwing motion.
