I hope we are 5 or 6 for the motivation factor.
I'm with you. I was just telling my Dad this this morning. Doesn't matter what we're ranked, we've got to win out regardless.

The committee can not have Cincy in the top four because it will be hard to justify dropping them later.
That's a popular narrative, but the committee can easily justify ranking other teams ahead of them later on due to their resumés improving substantially. Wasn't TCU initially ranked in the top-4 one year and later pushed out?

The next to last ranking on 12/2/2014:
1)TIDE 2)Ore.3)TCU 4)FSU 5)ohio 6)Baylor
On 12/6/2014 Baylor beats a 9th ranked 9-2 Kansas St by 11 to finish 11-1.
TCU beats up on Iowa State 55-3 to finish 11-1.Now Baylor had beat TCU earlier in the year by 3.But be reminded that up to the Selection day rankings TCU on 12/7/2014 TCU was 3rd. Baylor 6th.And ohio 5th
On 12/6 5th ranked ohio blasts Wicconsin by 6 More pts than 3rd ranked TCU beat Iowa St.
12/7/2014-Selection day..And The Committee Jury Foreman,Bucky Bedger's own FAT arse Barry Alvarez STRIKES!!
Here comes the "Old 13th Data Point" argument
AKA-How do we justify putting ohio in the Playoffs over TCU and/or Baylor
Voila!!-We will "punish" those Big 12 teams for not having a Title game-Or the "13th" Data point
Final Rankings:1)TIDE 2)Ore 3)FSU 4)ohio 5)Baylor 6)TCU  (TCU then goes and punishes a 9th ranked Ole Miss team in the Peach Bowl by 40) TCU beats a Power-5 team by 52 and drops 3 spots(Think if their names was Texas or Oklahoma Alvarez and that committee would have done that?
Kind of funny, considering that just 2 years later the "13th Data point" just kind of vanished like a fart in the wind.
In 2016 PSU won the big 10 East.ohio actually finished 3rd.PSU won the big 10 Championship game.PSU beat ohio head up.ohio lacked that dreaded "13th Data Point" themselves. But guess who was selected to the Playoffs, and went on to put on a completely embarrassing performance against Clemson? If you guessed the" World Famous" ohio state buckeyes,as Fox Sports Gus Johnson calls them? You would be correct.

MSU has played and beaten a whole lot of nothing but I am sure that means nothing to the CFP committee.
Strength of schedule means little in the beginning so they will get ranked high
1 - UGA
2 - Bama
3 - MSU
4 - OU ( scraped through so far but 3 tougher games to come)
The committee should be looking at what has happened up to this point but they will also look at the possible end of the season as well to see where teams could finish. UGA and UA will be in the top 3 with UGA #1 and UA either 2 or 3( I think 3). I feel MSU will be #2 but I could see OSU up there as well and in all honesty OSU is probably one of the top 3 teams in the country.

Are you sure?
Rankings criteria: Season-to-date resumé, SOS, metrics and eye-test. Tie breakers -- used only to differentiate otherwise "equal" teams: conf title, head-to-head and results vs common opponents.
Ohio State looks great when running up the score and stats vs weak teams. Otherwise, OSU lost at home to injury-laden Oregon and barely defeated derpy Penn St at home via 2 scoop & score TDs.

What the committee is doing which I believe they do look at as I have heard them talking about the eyeball test.
In regards to OSU being one of the top 3 teams in the country yes as that is my opinion. I also do not think in my opinion UGA is that much ahead of us or OSU. I am not sold on OU, MSU, or Oregon being good enough to win it all.
I could easily see UGA, UA, and OSU being top 3 tonight.
