Louisiana Tech before Goff:

2013: 19-37 (6-27 in conference)
2014: 15-35 (5-25 in conference)

With Goff:

2015: 25-27 (8-21 in conference)
2016: 42-20 (19-11 in conference)

Everywhere he's been, he's built a solid program. I'm totally fine with this hire. Not the #1 choice, but he should bring some excitement back into the program.

This is certainly not who I wanted but I can get excited about this. We better start making the tourney every year and actually start winning regionals. No reason we can't get to Omaha every 3 to 5 years. Anyway, Roll Tide Roll

Just watched the press conference. Goff seems like a good guy, I hope he does well.

It may take him a couple of years. I understand our talent pool is a little shallow at the moment but I'm excited about the hire.

Same here. I don't see why he can't succeed. Won everywhere he has been and he wants to be at Alabama. Called it his dream job.

Some stats on Louisiana Tech last season:

.288 batting average (Alabama had .249

50 HRs (Alabama had 30)

37th in the nation in OB% (Alabama finishes 244th)

90 stolen bases (Alabama had 43)

Obviously there's more statistics that go in favor if Goff, but you get the point. We'll probably be much better AB than Gaspard

I'm sold. Just want to be consistently good again. And keep Alabama talent at home.

He will probably be drafted very early and never play college ball.

Listening to Goff's press conference and some interviews he seems like a great guy. Looks like he is a high character guy which is always great to have leading your program. Now if he can only win...

He is a young guy and I think he will relate well with the players. In reading some Q and A on Al.com he is going to let the base runners be aggressive. I also liked what he said about the batter who gets strike 2. He is now trying to put the ball into play to force the D to make a play. So this approach is something that I am sure happens for other teams but I have never heard a coach mention it. In other words if you are a home run hitter you are now going to change your approach when you get the second strike. Those of you that are big time BB fans can address this as I am a side wanker and an arm chair coach.

and another note

A friend of mine had a son who played for Coach Goff and said he is a great coach and a strong disciplinarian.
