The Chick-Fil-A Kickoff Game will mark the first ime the teams have met on the gridiron. The game will be televised nationally on ABC/ESPN2 with kickoff set for 2:36 p.m. CDT. Dave Pasch will serve as the play-by-play announcer, with Brian Griese at his side as the color analyst. The two will be joined by sideline reporter Tom Luginbill

WEST VIRGINIA: The Mountaineers are coming off a 4-8 record in the 2013 season, including a 2-7 mark in the Big 12 Conference. West Virginia is under the direction of fourth-year head coach Dana Holgorsen. The Mountaineers are 21-17 in Holgorsen’s tenure, including an Orange Bowl victory. West Virginia enters the 2014 season returning 19 starters and 48 letterwinnners.

RETURNING SUCCESS: Alabama returns 13 starters and 51 lettermen from its 2013 squad that finished 11-2, tied for the SEC’s Western Division and played in the Sugar Bowl.

DOME SWEET DOME: Alabama is 15-6-1 (.705) in domed stadiums, including a 6-1 mark since 2009 and 7-3 in Coach Saban’s tenure

ALABAMA HAS MOST WINS SINCE 2008: Dating back to the start of the 2008 season, Alabama has won 72 games, which is the most in the Football Bowl Subdivision.

FIVE STRAIGHT: Alabama has now led the Southeastern Conference in scoring defense for five consecutive seasons (2009-13). No other school has accomplished that feat and only one school has led the SEC in scoring defense for four consecutive seasons – Auburn from 1986 through 1989. The Crimson Tide allowed 13.9 points per game in 2013 to rank fourth nationally.

In the Holgorsen era, WVU has produced 24 games with 400 or more yards of total offense, 13 games with more than 500 yards and six games with more than 600 yards.

West Virginia returns 31 players on offense with starting experience, led by offensive linemen Quinton Spain and Mark Glowinski who each started every game a season ago.

A total of 81 starts return on offense from 2013, including 31 from offensive linemen, 27 from wide receivers, 13 from running backs and 10 from quarterbacks.

WVU’s offensive roster includes nine seniors, nine juniors, nine sophomores and four freshmen.

The Mountaineer offense is averaging 42.3 points per game in season openers under coach Dana Holgorsen (3-0).

WVU is 24-23-2 all-time against current members of the Southeastern Conference. WVU is 1-1 vs. Auburn; 1-1 against Florida; 1-0 against Georgia; 8-11 vs. Kentucky; 0-2 vs. LSU; 1-0 vs. Mississippi; 2-0 vs. Mississippi State, 2-3 vs. Missouri; 7-4 vs. South Carolina and 1-1 vs. Vanderbilt
