and making the college softball world series even with the teams that did not win it all defines a bad season to you?
We haven't really been close to the WCWS finals since 2014. About that time I would have said our program was about on par with Oklahoma considering we beat them in the finals in 2012 and they won it all in 2013, and then we were runner up in 2014 and beat them in Super Regionals in 2015 to reach the WCWS. Hell, we might have been a better program at that point. From 2016 on Alabama has one regular season and one tournament SEC title, three WCWS appearances, zero WCWS finals appearances. Lost in the regionals once. Oklahoma in the same time span has won the Big 12 regular season every year, three Big 12 tournament championships, and has made the WCWS every year and has won four Nattys and has one runner up finish.
I've defended Murphy for years but just can't do it anymore. He either needs an entirely new staff (with an actual hitting coach) or he needs to go. He also needs to stop with this small ball baseball BS. Oklahoma hit over 100 more home runs than Alabama last year. 100!! We're never going to win it all again as long as Murphy continues to play small ball. Alabama shouldn't lose to Kennesaw State and Texas State in the same year...ever. Then we beat Samford and UAB by a single run? GTFO. We use to run rule those teams regularly. Oh yeah we had two players transfer out after 2021 to in conference teams and one of them won the damn player of the year award.

What he said. We have slowly slid downward every year since that natty. We’ve finally reached the tipping point and we aren’t even an elite SEC team anymore, we’re a middle of the pack squad. And every year we bitch about the lack of hitting and every year the hitting coach remains the same. Murphy refuses to evolve with the game. He’s built a career on finding a stud pitcher and riding her as far as she will take us. It’s pitching and defense and hitting is an afterthought. The teams that have passed us and that are dominating the sport like Oklahoma and Okie Lite can go 3-4 deep in pitching and have a shite ton of girls that can knock the cover off the ball. Pitching doesn’t do a damn bit of good when your lone ace has thrown till her arm is falling off and the defense doesn’t matter when the ball is landing in Northport.
Yeah, Murphy built the program. Are we going to sit on our hands while he tears it completely down?

Rough weekend in Texas. Rough waters ahead.
Alabama Softball Falls in Back-and-Forth Weekend Finale to Wisconsin, 7-6
The Crimson Tide is back in action Tuesday night against UNA in Florence, Ala.
Alabama and Wisconsin traded the lead five times in a back-and-forth finale Sunday morning at the Bevo Classic, with the Badgers ultimately holding on to defeat the Crimson Tide, 7-6.
Alabama (20-6) took an early lead over Wisconsin (13-8) in the first on a two-out fielding error, plating an unearned run to make it 1-0. The Badgers took the lead in the top of the fourth on a bases-loaded double to pull ahead 2-1 before a three-run home run from Kali Heivilin in the next half-inning put the Crimson Tide back in front, 4-2. Wisconsin wasn't down for long however, scoring three in the top of the fifth to move ahead 5-4. The back-and-forth battle continued, with a two-run home run from Ally Shipman in the bottom of the fifth making it 6-5 Alabama and another home run in the top of the sixth swinging it back in Wisconsin's favor, 7-6. The Badgers couldn't add to their lead in the seventh but the Tide had no answer in the bottom half, dropping the one-run decision.
All four pitchers saw time in the circle, with Montana Fouts (10-3) taking the loss in relief. Six different Alabama players earned a hit, with home runs from Heivilin and Shipman as their third and second of the season, respectively.

I've preached for years, and the Murphy clown show continues. Talent has carried his arse for too long. Not talent that he developed, talent he has squandered and destroyed. Get rid of him and the barking seal. Who knows what she brings to the table? Fire his arse!

Alabama Softball Defeats UNA 5-2, Fouts Joins 1,000 Strikeout Club
The Crimson Tide overcome an early deficit with a five-run fourth inning
Alabama softball overcame an early deficit to defeat North Alabama, 5-2, Tuesday night on the road as Montana Fouts became the fifth player in program history to earn 1,000 career strikeouts.
Alabama (21-6) trailed in the second inning after a North Alabama (17-3) RBI single put the home team up 1-0 early. The Crimson Tide knotted it up in the fourth on an RBI single from Bailey Dowling before a two-run double from Emma Broadfoot put Alabama in the lead. The Tide tacked on two more before the frame ended to make it a 5-1 game at the halfway mark. The Lions got a run back in the bottom of the sixth on an RBI single and put the first two batters on in the seventh, bringing the potential tying run to the plate. Fouts entered to try and close out the game, striking out two along with a groundout to end the threat and secure the win.
With two strikeouts in her third save of the season, Fouts eclipsed the 1,000 strikeout mark for her career, becoming the fifth Tide pitcher in program history to surpass that total. Jaala Torrence (6-2) got the win as the starting pitcher, throwing 5.1 innings. Bailey Dowling tied a career high with three hits while Kristen White posted her fourth multi-hit game of the season from the leadoff spot.

Huge amounts of respect and gratitude for @UACoachMurphy and the @AlabamaSB program. Few top programs will take their team to play at an in-state mid-major. Even fewer will stay after to engage and embrace the local softball and sports community the way UA did. First-class leader and program.
What a night in @cityoflorenceal and @north_alabama! Thank You, Coach Murphy!

Alabama Softball Shuts Out Arkansas, 2-0, Saturday in Series Opener
Jenna Johnson goes 3-for-3, Montana Fouts strikes out eight in the shutout
Alabama softball won a 2-0 pitcher's duel over Arkansas in the series opener Saturday night at Rhoads Stadium.
Alabama (22-6, 1-0 SEC) loaded the bases against Arkansas (20-8, 1-3 SEC) in the bottom of the second, with everyone moving up 60 feet on a passed ball to give the Crimson Tide the first lead of the game. An infield RBI single from Jenna Johnson in the fourth doubled the lead to 2-0 and Alabama loaded the bases again in the sixth with one out, but could not add to its two-run lead. The Razorbacks went down in order in the seventh, clinching the shutout for the Tide.
Montana Fouts (12-3) struck out eight while holding Arkansas to just two hits and no walks. The shutout is the 28th of her career, tying her for third all-time at Alabama with Alexis Osorio (2015-18). Jenna Johnson tied a career-high with three hits, including an RBI single, while Bailey Dowling added a double, her fifth of the season.
From Head Coach Patrick Murphy
"This was a big win for us, especially with eight newcomers on the team that have never been in this kind of atmosphere at home. You give [Montana] Fouts the ball and she does what she does, and we were able to scratch a couple of runs across and our defense played great. The formula for SEC play is you have to get a good start from your pitching, you have to play great defense and then you hope for a key hit. [Bailey] Dowling and Jenna Johnson got the key hits for us today and Montana and the defense did the rest.
"Our senior days are an opportunity to celebrate one person on the team and you know it's a big thing here. We really just try to celebrate her all day long, and the fans do a great job celebrating her every time she gets up to bat."
