Shipman, Fouts Shine in Alabama Softball’s Doubleheader Sweep on Day One of Easton Bama Bash (SI)

The Crimson Tide won twice on Friday night thanks to big hits from its veteran catcher and a dominating performance by its ace pitcher.

ESPN+ and Dish users. When you try to stream the game on ESPN+ and you click on Dish as your provider, you get a message saying it can't find the server. I checked and there is an authentication issue between Dish and ESPN. The problem is with Dish, not ESPN and Dish says they're working on it. It's interesting that I get all the ESPN tv channels with no problem but can't get ESPN+ to work with Dish as my provider. Go figure.

For the games this weekend you can watch on the ESPN app on the SECN+ channel (SEC Network Plus Channel) if the SEC Network is part of your Dish package. That’s how we were following the games yesterday.

Bama has given up 11 home runs in these 11 games. Not sure what a good stat is but this seems high to me since Fouts is one of the best pitchers in the NCAA and she has played or started it what seems about half of those games.

Only 6 players with 300 and above BA. Fouts ERA is just under 2

Dowling who is our most veteran returner has a BA under 2

Bama up 4-3 in bottom half of two. Shitting pitching and even shittier D with 4 errors so far for Bama.

We smashed the ball in the first inning and knocked their starter out

Not correct.

We have 9 players batting over .300, 12 over .250.

Dowling is not even close to our most veteran returner and she’s actually batting .269.

I got my stats from rolltide and only considered regular starters. which I should have mentioned. So you dont consider Dowling our most experienced player. Where are your stats coming from.

Just checked again and Roltide is through 8 games. What a POS web site if they cant update things through 11 games.

Rolltide.com

You must be looking at something wrong.

I don’t consider Dowling our most experienced player. Not even close. She’s a junior and has started about 1.5 seasons. Shipman, Prange, and Hensley are 5th year seniors.

The PDF and the Web have two different figures. The PDF appears to be the most current

Whatever the case is, we straight up have a lot more than 6 batting over .300.

Cahalan, Prange, Shipman, Hensley, Duscherer, Giles, White, Preuitt, Heivilin, and Stephens are all over .300.

did you not just hear me say I got my info from flawed data on the same site. And I only considered the main players not someone who has 4 at bats. etc.

I was agreeing with you bro

Everyone I mentioned except for Duscherer has at least 4 starts.

We got some offensive weapons...

They are just getting their feet wet too.

Those FRESHMAN are extremely good and I will say this...we got the best in the country in Kenleigh Cahalan. She suppose to be a SENIOR in highschool.

Bailey Dowling just has to get her swagger back and I think she found it.

Alabama Softball Bats Stay Hot in Two Lopsided Saturday Wins

The Crimson Tide run-rule Indiana State, 14-4, and Southeastern Louisiana, 11-0

Alabama's bats were scorching hot in a pair of lopsided run-rule wins Saturday at the Easton Bama Bash, with the Crimson Tide defeating Indiana State, 14-4, and Southeastern Louisiana, 11-0, in five innings each.

A mix of hits and errors put Alabama (11-2) in an early 2-0 hole against Indiana State (4-4) in the first inning, but Ally Shipman and Faith Hensley each hit two-run home runs in the bottom of the first to put the Crimson Tide ahead. The teams each traded scores over the next few innings before Alabama added some distance with three runs in the third and four in the fourth, with a three-run home run from Marlie Giles ultimately capping the 14-4 run-rule win. In the second game of the day against Southeastern Louisiana (10-2), the Tide got off to a hot start with five runs in the opening frame and continued to pile it on from there, scoring three in the second, two in the third and another in the fourth.

On the day, Hensley celebrated her senior day with a combined 3-for-4 day at the plate with five runs scored and four RBIs, including a pair of home runs. Shipman and Kenleigh Cahalan also had three hits on the day with home runs from both including the second inside-the-park homer of the season for Cahalan. She is the first player in program history to have two inside-the-park home runs in a season and just the second to have two in her career, joining Brittany Rogers who did so in 2007 and 2008. In the circle, Jaala Torrence (3-1) got the win against the Sycamores while Montana Fouts (6-1) took home the decision against the Lions.

From Head Coach Patrick Murphy
"You have to give a lot of credit to Faith Hensley on her senior day. A lot of times, the pressure builds too much because friends and family and relatives are here, but she had a great senior day. It may be one of the best ones we've ever had. She was on base five out of six times and hit two home runs. I couldn't be happier for her and the team. They were two really good games for us.

"We played much cleaner in the second game. I thought Montana pitched great and the defense was much better. The first inning was probably my favorite of the year – six straight batters reached. And six in a row means that we ended up with five runs just like that, which is how you bury some teams. You have to come out ready to play and those six hitters were terrific in that first inning."

Newsflash: @CahalanKenleigh is special.

Cahalan’s second career inside-the-park home run came in the 3rd inning against Indiana State. That’s tied for the most in Alabama history with 4x-AA Brittany Rogers.
