He was offered the primary back last year for the Ravens with a better contract and had a pro bowl season. Even though it fell apart he was the main back coming into this year but Covid and injuries wrecked it. With the Saints he likely would have been 2nd back last year and they likely would not have resigned him for this season.

Sean Fazende of FOX8 New Orleans reported that guaranteed money was a serious factor. Fazende reported that the Saints offered Ingram a four year, $17 million contract but guaranteed just $5 million of it. That gave Ingram no security after the first year, potentially putting him back into free agency after the 2019 season. That just wasn’t satisfactory for him.
When Ingram left that offer on the negotiating table, the Saints had to move quickly and reach an agreement with Latavius Murray, their preferred option if things did not work with Ingram. They were able to settle on a contract with Murray worth $14.4 million over four years, less per-year than their offer for Ingram but loaded up with $7.2 million in guarantees, securing the first two years. Josh Katzenstein of the Times-Picayune first reported the details for Murray’s contract.
On top of that, the Ravens offer Ingram more playing time. He would be second fiddle again to Alvin Kamara in New Orleans, but Baltimore has no serious competitors to take carries away from Ingram. He’ll get to play more often and put up big numbers behind their strong offensive line.

Yeah I got that mixed up but he reportedly wanted at least $6M/yr from the Saints. His agent thought he could get that or more. The Saints didn’t agree and quickly signed Murray.
In their first and only full season together they were both pro bowlers. If Ingram played like he did in the first season with the Ravens, I don’t see why they wouldn’t try the 2017 formula again. Plus Kamara rarely had a game with 15 carries. They would’ve used Ingram about as much as he was used in Baltimore (he averaged two more touches per game then he did his last season with the Saints). They would’ve also signed him to a 4 year contract like Murray. He would’ve been here another year at least.
Yet they still drafted Dobbins in the 2nd round despite having a very capable backup in Gus Edwards. There’s no way his touches wouldn’t have gone down from the previous season regardless of the injuries and Covid. They were planning on heavily using a RBC which generally don’t have one clear lead back.
I just wish he would’ve at least broken the all time franchise rushing mark. He was like 60 yards away, and would’ve gotten it easily if not for the suspension.

I get what you're saying but that argument has a lot of ifs and they would haves in it.
The simple fact is the Saints offered him a contract with little security, and he was better off going elsewhere. If they had given him more guaranteed money and a guaranteed second year I would agree with you but they didn't.

Nice stop inside the 10 by Rams holding Pack to 3.
Pack 3, Rams 0 8 and a half minutes to go in 1st.

The only reason is check this thread is to watch Carlton banter with himself. It is a one man show.

I saw this on the twitter verse. Interesting to see where Quinnen, Dalvin, Raekwon, Jonathan and Daron on the list.
ETA: DeForest Buckner is the dot under the "E" in Jonathan Allen's name.

Oh wow, just read that Ingram is a “healthy scratch” for the game. Supposedly concerned about the salary cap. Go Bills
