Christon Gray's debut album "School of Roses" didn't take long to climb the charts, shooting to the top spot on iTunes R&B listings only hours after its release.

At the 2:40 mark of Nostalgious, Gray gives a shoutout to the junior tailback and the Crimson Tide

quote:

On the same tide and we rollin' like Yeldon

ETA: Where else has the Tide shown up in popular culture?

Sweet Souther Comfort - Buddy Jewel
Southern Voice - Tim Mcgraw
Ala-Freakin-Bama - Trace Adkins

ETA: One note about Southern Voice. As you probably know, he's a huge corndog. So this is what he had to say about his song:

A reporter asks him how he feels about saluting the late coach, Bear Bryant, and the University of Alabama's Crimson Tide football team in the lyrics of "Southern Voice," a song written by Tom Douglas and Bob DiPiero. "I hate that part of the song," the Louisiana native groans. "God! You know how many times I've tried to make 'LSU Tigers' blend in with that [lyric]? But I couldn't do it."

Apparently He likes making money over loyalty to a college football team...

When asked about the line, "They call Alabama the Crimson Tide, they call me Deacon Blues," Donald Fagen told Rolling Stone magazine: "Walter and I had been working on that song at a house in Malibu. I played him that line, and he said, 'You mean it's like, 'They call these cracker a--holes this grandiose name like the Crimson Tide, and I'm this loser, so they call me this other grandiose name, Deacon Blues?' and I said 'Yeah!' He said, 'Cool, let's finish it.'"
