Listening to the press conference it sounds like a lot of them were sick last week.

Also talked about scores being low across the country and how the officiating has changed this year with new training the officials went had to do.

Go to Georgia next, then get LSU. I hope they have a better week of practice

Kentucky nor Oklahoma had issues getting high scores with the same damn judges. UF vs LSU both were mid 197s, and uf dropped a 198 on uga yesterday. The issue is bama

Couple of links that found on the scoring being down. Also at the bottom is a link to the the top 25 with average scores and highest.

NCAA gymnastics is making a lot of noise right now, but not in the way most people thought it would. The 2025 season kicked off on the 4th of January with a major shock: no perfect 10s were awarded in the first week. Insane! This is the first time that’s happened since 2017, and it’s a pretty big deal, especially since perfect scores have become almost expected in recent years. In 2022, there were 71 perfect 10s, 84 in 2023, and 87 in 2024. So, to kick off this season with zero? That’s a massive change that’s getting a lot of people talking.

Watch What’s Trending Now!
Even one gymnastics fan added on X, “fyi this is the 1st season since 2017 that no 10.0 was awarded in the 1st week of meets. don’t wanna get my hopes up but we could be seeing a 2005-level of cracking down on high.” It’s kind of wild to think about how many 10s were handed out in 2003 and 2004—in 2004 alone, 98 routines got a perfect 10. By 2005, the perfect 10 count had dropped from 98 to just 18, signaling a pretty major shift

Though the lack of tens was surprising, it was just the tip of the iceberg in a potentially sweeping change. Statistically, the week one scores were historically low across the country. Despite a strong performance that put them at the top of the podium, defending NCAA Runner-Up California recorded their lowest opening score in four years. The No. 10 UCLA Bruins, led by Olympic Champion Jordan Chiles, delivered their third lowest opening score in more than 15 years.

If i click on your links, it shows you why that streak likely ended. Week 1 had ~50 fewer teams competing vs weeks 2 or 3. Low and behold, last week had multiple 10s.

I looked at the 2024 rankings and Michigan was ranked 10th with an average score of 197.000

This year Michigan st is ranked 4th with a 197.000

I guess that is what the reporter was talking about in the press conference

With the exception of Arkansas, every top sec team from last season, at this point, is within .4 of their score last year at week 3. LSU is actually up, uf and Oklahoma are within the 0.1x range... we're at almost at 3/4 of a point. It's time to take off the crimson glasses and address the low scoring elephant in the room.

I have no qualm in giving judges grief. But three meets into the season, this squad needs to start consistently sticking their landings on vault, start staying in bounds on floor ex - and better yet, land on your feet instead of your bottom. Stop wobbling on or falling off the beam and stop having overtly obvious mistakes on bars. Do those things and I would have an easier time challenging the judges.

As a Fan, I would like to see perfection for every routine in every meet. I also know that’s not going to happen. I also cynically think some teams like OU don’t have their “beam wobbles” and “small hops on landings” judged quite as harshly as others.

This team is struggling with fundamentals. Maybe they are getting psyched out during meets or maybe there needs to be a different approach. There’s still time to correct the trajectory, but the trajectory is currently headed in the wrong direction.

Week 4 scores are updated
https://roadtonationals.com/results/standings/season/2024/4/0/5

Bama went from #10 with average score of 196.563 to #14 and average score of 196.475

Bama's next opponent, Georgia is #12 with an average score of 196.542

This year the first 196. score was the 5th spot. Last year the first 196. score was the 12th spot

This year the first 195. score was the 20th spot. Last year the first 195. score was the 28th spot.

Sec has 5 teams in top ten compared to 7 last year counting OU both years

I have heard from someone who would definitely know that the team had a flu outbreak last week. They were all on the upswing for the OU meet, but endurance was an issue. Hopefully, this low 196 trend will be a thing of the past starting this week.

If you listened to the post meet presser, some girls didn't practice all week.

Roll Tide. Would be nice to get a win before LSU comes to town. Heck, I guess I’d settle for a clean meet.
