LINK ]Alabama practice report: A few notes as Louisville prep begins (al.com)
quote:

The calendar says Thursday, but this was a Monday for the Alabama football team. It officially began game-plan preparation for Louisville in the Sept. 1 opener with a practice structured like the ones Alabama typically has on Mondays.

What we saw:

-- This was a shorter-than-normal media viewing period.

-- Najee Harris was again in a black jersey working with head athletic trainer Jeff Allen instead of the running backs. This is the second straight day that was spotted. Saban previously said Harris was expected to be fine for the Louisville game.

-- Starting QB: Still TBD.

-- Players were in helmets and shoulder pads instead of the full gear.

-- It was a little more crowded out there with walk-ons joining the roster after classes started Wednesday.

-- I'm still interested to see how quickly Ale Kaho can become part of the game plan. He's an athletic looking middle linebacker. Impressed with the bursts of speed we can observe in our short viewing windows.

-- There was one student on their balcony across the street at the apartment building but it looked like they were doing homework instead of watching any of the practice. Read more on that.

-- You know it's almost time for the season when the Alabama marching band is heard practicing in the background.

-- Nick Saban will meet with the media after practice. Stay tuned for that.

Ok minor update and it won’t be popular.

Tua and Jalen are both playing against LV, Tua has deferred to Jalen in the QB room as the leader of the bunch ( maybe just novelity) and Jalen handled his parents really well ( from what I hear told them to STFU). After that Saban thought extremely high of him. I know that isn’t going to go over well in here but it’s what I just heard.

I’m glad everyone is playing nice, but everyone knows Tua should be the starter.

I think most of us assumed both would play against Lville. My question would be 1) who starts and 2) who takes more snaps? Those are the real questions early in season IMO

Anyone who didn't think they'd both play against Louisville was lying to themselves. If Tua is deferring to Jalen for leadership purposes that's a little concerning though.

I think Tua fricked up by deferring to Jalen for leadership. I think Tua feels bad for him, but if this continues we may see Jalen starting this season again.

I think if Jalen starts and plays most of the season we will see Tua leave and his brother. No sense at all in staying behind Jalen.. go to USCw and win the damn Heisman.

Tua doesn’t need to feel pity for Jalen.. he need to gain control of the team leader role. I feared this pity party might impact Tua

As far as the QB goes Tua is at like 75-25 on reps. Saban May play some games but like I said after scrimmage 1 the difference is the Grand Canyon.

Be on the look out for our TE’s we are absolutely elite there. James is a freaking stud.

I’ll be honest I have no idea how people will stop our offense. If we aren’t slinging it to Waddle, Ruggs, Juedy, shavers, James, Smith we are handing it off to Harris & Harris company with sprinkled Jacobs and Robinson.
