Dang. Most of that is bad news

I wouldn't call it bad news. We will have the #1 class in the country. Again. We just got earlier commitments this year.

I like what Tim Watts said last night regarding the class:

quote:

It is in some ways like opening all your presents on Christmas Eve and then watching everyone else open theirs on Christmas.

That quote perfectly describes how we all feel.

Not that it affects us much, but Lorenzo Carter to Georgia.

It's a hell of a lot better than watching CyKo pick Auburn. That day sucked.

From a poster on BOL (non-VIP):

quote:

Tim already hit this in the nuggets and I do not like to post information I am told, however Elisha Shaw will commit to us tomorrow. I know most have heard or speculated this but according to those close to him he has told the coaches that he will sign a LOI to Bama on signing day. The unfortunate part of this story is that Elisha will in fact not play football again and he may indeed receive a grey shirt although his family hopes that he is put on a medical hardship. He is still holding out hope to play although he seems to be accepting the reality of this as well. The Bama coaches are the only ones who have stuck by him through out this process and have told him they will honor their offer and accept his commitment, although it is unclear what the next step will be. I hate this for Elisha as he is a very impressive ball player and a great young man as well.

If he's unlikely to be cleared medically, I doubt we allow him to take up a spot in the class by allowing him to sign an LOI

He said possible greyshirt too. Once he gets medically disqualified he won't count against next year's 25.

Its a good thing the NCAA changed the rules on the 25 limit. Really looking out for the kids.

If he signs an LOI, he counts against this year's 25 (SEC rule) regardless of whether he greyshirts, medicals, or never steps foot on campus. Maybe he won't sign an LOI like Bozeman last year if the intent is to greyshirt.

The punter from Hoover has confirmed he is walking on:

quote:

Hoover (Ala.) punter Tuck Borie tweets: Proud to say that I'll be joining the Tide next year!!

Borie also had an offer from Air Force.

I'll see if I can find a profile and some film to add to the OP.

I found a profile for Borie on Chris Sailer's kicking site:

Tucker Borie

Borie highlights from the Hoover-Vestavia game:

We have spots for 27 in this class. Pettway doesn't count against the 25. We have two spots left, one for Shaw (or possibly Dupre/Rudolph/etc.) and one for Evans (if he comes).

I know the 247 guys have been saying 27 but I've never seen an explanation of how. Seems like 26 to me based on numbers from previous classes. But even if it is 27 and we have an extra spot, using it on Shaw this year means that we won't be able to use it for backcounting next year

If he goes on medical we could use it again

Yep. This is how Bozeman got in this past year. Paige's medical hardship opened up a spot and Bozeman got it instead of greyshirting.

For the 85, yes. For the 25 initial counter, not sure but I could see it. For the 25 SEC LOI? Doubt it.

We had room for Bozeman in the 85 when Gullege medical led/transferred

This is what Chris Sailer had to say on Borie:

quote:

Tuck is a good punter. A good looking athlete with a strong leg. He hits a nice consistent ball. Has shown great improvement from camp to camp. Has a bright future in college with continued hard work. A fine young man with a great attitude and work ethic. Nice prospect.

So we will have a walk-on, a preferred walk-on, and a scholarship punter at fall camp. Seems like we could have possibly used that scholarship on a guy like Markell Boston. IJS!
