And the student body will not be in the gym to hear it. Good news for us?

I still think Elam is trolling UK fans, just to pick them and have them think they "stole" a recruit from Nick Saban.

Dumb logic if that's the case. It's hard to "steal" a recruit when said recruit resides in your home state.

Dumb logic
Never said it wasn't. But it is considered stealing when it's Kentucky vs. Alabama in football, imo

That logic may have worked at his all star game and his original announcement date. Get UK some good publicity. Now, I think most have tired of his public relations. Still, UK fans will read it as a stamp of approval for Stoops and co if he does choose the Cats. And for them and their class.. they have done a great job either way.

I have a feeling he is picking UK. I truly believes he wants to play for UA but the pressure to stay home has won him in the end. I do not think he is personally doing anything for public relations for himself but maybe for UK. Not beating out UA for his services but UK has a few they are hoping to real in by NSD and I think their staff wants him on board to seal the deal with their other remaining targets.
I think not announcing at the all star game hurt UK with other targets. Again we are talking about UK and if Elam commits it is a big deal and selling point for their staff.

Here's to hoping he is successful no matter which school he chooses. From everything I have read on him, he needs football and an education to hopefully break the cycle of poverty he grew up in. I will cheer for him to succeed either way.

Non-VIP post from a BOL member regarding Rashaan Evans:
quote:
A friend of mine from Enterprise knows Alan Evans (Rashaan's father) very well and we had a lengthy conversation last night. I've debated on whether or not to share what I gathered as I know I will be down-voted to oblivion since it's not what people want to hear, however I figured some may appreciate it:
Auburn is where Rashaan's heart is but his brain has been Alabama's since November.
He said ultimately he expects his heart to win out as he is receiving a lot of pressure from both family and friends to choose the hometown Tigers.
Surprisingly, he said that Alan is the only one in the "inner circle" that doesn't seem to be steering Rashaan towards AU. He states despite what's being said publicly that Alan still has concerns over AU's plans involving Rashaan and how that will translate to his skill set. Alan is a huge fan of Coach Saban and "the process". He also mentioned that Alan thinks it would be nice for Rashaan to get away from home a bit for college so he can develop into a man and hopefully develop into a guy with a long NFL career.
With all that said he stated that Rashaan is more open to AU's plans for him (perhaps teenage naivety?) after meeting with Coach Ellis and that his most recent visit to them was enough to seal the deal for the Barn. He stated that AU guaranteed him early playing time and all but guaranteed he would start his first game there. He states Bama made no such promises but reiterated that they did not plan to redshirt him but any playing time would have to be earned and that he would be given a chance to do so.
I asked him about negative recruiting etc and he stated the only thing he was aware of was that when telling Rashaan he would get early PT that an AU assistant coach told them to look at Rueben Foster and how much he was used this year at Bama if he wanted to see how "other programs" utilize freshmen with similar talent.
With all that said, this is a hell of a class with or without Rashaan and we can all hope that he wakes up and realizes that his brain has been the one with sound reasoning!

I'm pretty sure universities don't have a say once a player graduates.

UCF just had CB Dominick Sanders flip to Georgia a few days ago. They also flipped a 4-star CB that was committed to Vanderbilt in the past week.
Who knows if he's seriously considering flipping to them? I hope not. I really like this kid.

ETA: Nevermind. I saw it.
You're right. Once a player graduates he can go anywhere he wants. The school can't dictate anything.
