I don't see what this has to do with anything. Unless you are hinting that we are funnelling money through Bryant Bank to pay for Marlon. In that case, carry on.

If that's what it takes to get him

I assume that's OJ Smith on the left and it looks like Andrew Brown on the right.

I think LSU commit Garret Brumfield is the one in the back.

Wow. I thought he would at least end up in the SEC. And some thought he would be in Alabama's class, this time a year ago.

Good luck to him. Kid has had a shitty last 2-3 years. First his father passes away, then his high school decided to go through like 3 different head coaches during his career.

I know it's already on the board, but I thought I would post the Coker story here. Credit goes to RTR America for bringing it over:

quote:

Perhaps the guy who will give Nick Saban the best chance to get back to a national title game next season was standing in a football uniform, leaning over two metallic crutches, about 50 yards away from the Bama coach Monday night in the Rose Bowl.

quote:

Inside the Noles program, however, Coker has generated some Bunyanesque buzz.

"I've never had anybody with his size who throws it as well as he does," said FSU QB coach Randy Sanders who's been around big-time programs since his days as a Tennessee player in the mid-80s with the Vols star-crossed quarterback Tony Robinson. "Jake has a really quick release with tremendous arm strength. Rarely does it not spiral or not go where he wants it to go."

Asked if Coker's arm is even better than Winston, the resident Heisman winner, Sanders paused for a few breaths before saying, "Coker's arm is kind of at a different level. Jameis has a very special arm, and this isn't any knock against Jameis, but Jake's probably the best I've seen in 25 years at throwing it."

Sanders raved even more about Coker's character than he did about his arm.

"A lot of times when you have a quarterback competition, the most valuable player isn't the guy who wins the job it's the guy who doesn't win the job because they have the ability to almost divide a team," Sanders sad. "Jake's done a great job of supporting Jameis and helping him in any way he can. That's part of what makes him a special player."

Lamarcus Joyner, FSU's star DB, compares the Winston-Coker dynamic to what Florida had with Tim Tebow and Cam Newton.

"You have two NFL guys sitting on one roster," Joyner said. "Everyone knows about Jameis. He's the Tim Tebow right now. He's in that light, but no one knows about Jacob Coker. Great kid. Physical. I'll never forget the day he threw an interception to me, and that kid came and hit me harder than I've ver been hit in my life. It felt like a linebacker."

That is what really happened I remember you even posting about how great you thought he would be as a QB prospect, coaching changes can do a lot to really hurt a kid's chances

He only had QB film as a Freshman that I ever saw and he looked good. But I think his development came to a grinding halt when his father died. Combine that with a shitty Ashville program and he fell through the cracks.

From a poster on BOL (non-VIP post so it should be okay to copy/paste):

quote:

My mom called me all excited about her conversation with a stranger this morning. Story goes, she was meeting her dad for breakfast at Dick Russell's in Tillmans Corner. As she is pulling in she notices another car pulling in at the same time and thinks it is her dad. She tries to surprise him, but he ends up surprising her when she finds out it isn't her dad. She and the stranger strike up a conversation, my mom notices his Florida State tag. She tells him she is a big Bama fan and is so glad that FSU won. They end up knowing the same person that graduated from Theodore and played at FSU back in the 70's. Well, she ends up meeting her dad and having breakfast. The stranger approaches their table as he is leaving and tells my mom that if she really likes Bama football she needs to remember the name Jacob Coker. Turns out the stranger is Jacob's grandfather, he tells my mom that Jacob will be transferring to Bama and will be competiting for the starting quarterback spot. He says Jacob is a really big Bama fan and can't wait to get to Tuscaloosa.

I admit, landing Cornwell and Town has certainly diminished the requests I receive to evaluate someone.
