I did go at 10am on a Monday, so that could have something to do with it.
The majority of the shoppers were retired folks and stay at home moms.

So yes, people can choose to not walk within 6 feet of someone not wearing a mask, but we can also choose to make a little sacrifice (wearing a mask in a store is minimal sacrifice) to do our part to protect vulnerable individuals.
I guess I just don't really understand the attitude of "I'm not vulnerable, so it's not my problem."
You don’t have to understand it. I’m not going to wear a mask. Nothing more than that

I guess Bama should have been practicing with their masks on. Now people are going to die

I'm with GumpinInMissou. I wear a mask most everywhere. My job requires me to, so it doesn't bother me. I'm not scared of the virus, I'm scared of missing at least 2 weeks of work because if I get it, I am out. I work with long term care (read nursing home) patients so no choice if I'm positive. My wife works retail pharmacy. If she is positive, chances are she gives it to dozens of people before she knows.
I want life to go back to normal. The only way that happens is if we a) develop a vaccine b) develop a treatment c) develop herd immunity, which will entail a long, tough journey to get there d) get Rt rates back down under 1. Of the 4, d is by far the easiest option right now, by simply using common sense precautions. If 2 people are wearing masks, even if one is positive, you reduce the chance of spread by 90%. I think that's a small price to pay to defeat this thing. Maybe you don't. But I'll be honest with you; I don't understand your philosophy, don't agree with it, and am a little pissed by it.

I don’t work a job that requires it. I don’t care if it pisses you off. I don’t give a single shite who it pisses off. If someone has a problem with it, they are free to approach me when they see me without my mask.
I don’t condemn people for wearing a mask or staying home, if people condemn me for not wearing a mask and handling my business, then they can frick off

Not sure who you are posting it too, but people have different opinions and you just might be wrong.
And I fully believe d) is the worst option.

Absolutely. I'm not going through a store and telling them they shouldn't be wearing a mask. They don't own me and my life.

Just so you completely understand my position, I'm not pissed at you for not wanting to wear a mask for your protection, I get it. Kudos for you. I don't like the damn things. I don't know many people outside the elderly that are actually afraid of the virus. I get pissed because if you are a carrier, you are spreading the damn stuff around and making the situation worse. What you choose as far as personal responsibility is your business. But when it affects everyone else, I think a little self sacrifice should be warranted and expected. That's all I'm saying. I'm not going to confront you, I might give you the stink eye though.

I'll bet Cobra $100 that Phil will want mail in voting. I'd be shocked if he didn't.

Dude, stop. You're just being petty.
And no, I don't. Hell no. I'm as conservative as they come. I'm just a little more concerned about the common good apparently.

Shoot, I’ve been getting the stink eye since I was a kid
Back to the virus. I’ve read reports that it’s weakening. I’ve also read reports that we are testing more, so that is helping to cause the uptick in cases. Deaths are dropping. So, more positives and less deaths seems like we are at least making up some ground

In my grocery store yesterday (Overton Rd. Publix) the large majority of folks were masked.
Same at my Publix out 280. I've been there a couple of times when several weren't wearing a mask, but most times most everyone is wearing one.

You're exactly right. My wife has an auto-immune deficiency and would have a very difficult time fighting this virus if she were to catch it. I am scared to death of potentially losing her, and I think people that ignore the recommendations to wear one in public are selfish assholes putting my wife's life in danger.

Come tell me that when you see me not wearing a mask

Not sure how wearing a mask to prevent my spread of possible germs to other people makes me a scared pvssy, but alright.

I won't confront anyone about not wearing a mask. We are all free to choose what we are willing to do. I just believe there is a benefit to them. From what you have said, it sounds like you do your best to observe social distancing when out and about, so I appreciate that.
I've read those same weakening reports and hoping they hold true. I think the key number to watch is hospitalizations. If we get through the next week, week in a half without a fairly big uptick I would say we are in good shape. They are rising around the state, but I don't think the rate is too alarming yet.

I for one just hope that this widespread attitude doesn't affect football season.
And if it does, I hope everyone understands.

Comments like this just contribute to the polarization that is continually harming our country. Not super helpful, and of very little substance.

I stay as far away from people as I can. I hate going to the store, so I just get in and out and take care of business. People that chitchat in stores, need to find something better to do with their time
