"The winner of college football’s BCS National Championship Game will be determined in Miami Gardens, Florida on January 7, but prior to the game, Alabama Crimson Tide and Notre Dame Fighting Irish fans are battling in a different venue – social media. Today, Notre Dame launched a live Twitter data page on its BCS Bowl Central website to track the Fighting Irish’s social media buzz compared with that of Alabama.

Early results demonstrate that the Crimson Tide is being mentioned twice as often as the Fighting Irish. Additionally, Alabama head coach Nick Saban is referenced in roughly five times as many Tweets that mention Notre Dame head coach Brian Kelly."

More HERE.

Just a distraction as we while away the remaining hours until Monday night. The results are a little surprising to me. I would expect a larger national following for Notre Dame, as well as a more established presence on social media.

ETA: The link to ND's tracking page.

Quite possible. It doesn't say whether the mentions are positive or not.

Looks like they expected that Notre Dame would win too. Otherwise they wouldn't have started the website.
