I don’t take charges anymore. Maybe I will again someday, but I haven’t since 7th grade, when I was practicing with Kobi Simmons (who’s now balling at Arizona) and I stepped up in the lane to take a charge only to get dunked all over. That was a lesson learned.
Favorite quote from the article. If I ever get to coach basketball this will be what I do differently from pretty much every other coach. If you draw a charge from having perfect position and he runs over you, great, but trying to draw a charge instead of contesting the shot annoys me.

Collin Sexton:

Yeah, I know that Alabama isn’t known as a basketball school, and that everyone thinks the SEC is a football conference. That’s changing though. Everyone just saw Kentucky, South Carolina and Florida play in the Elite Eight. The SEC is starting to make some noise on the basketball court. And now, I think they’re about to get one more dominant team.

Tide fans: How does this sound — an SEC championship and an NCAA tournament bid. Yeah, it’s been a long time since either of those have happened, but those are my goals. If I can help make that happen, the individual goals I have for myself will also fall in line.

Players also get hurt taking charges way too damn often

Players get taught how to take charges when opposing players drive to the basket instead of being taught how to contest and alter shots without fouling.

Not to mention how the refs call everything in the SEC. If a guy goes to the hole its pretty much a guaranteed foul.

Porter Jr is out with an injury. That'll help Petty get the ball more tonight. Game starts in 17 minutes

If Porter was playing he wouldn't had touched the ball at all

Why do they never shut up about the football team? Like damn. Y'all know I love college football, but shut up about it during basketball. It's like there is a media conspiracy to put our basketball program down because they don't want a powerhouse program in both major sports.

Seriously. No one ever says this shite during Texas, Florida State, USC, or Ohio State basketball games.

Did anyone ever say Bowen was or wasn't considering Bama? He's been tearing it up, sinking 3 after 3.

We don't know. Hank South told me hes trying to confirm and will let me know

I don't think he is. I think the ESPN guy misspoke.

Looked pretty serious. It was his foot and he couldn't put any weight on it.
