One thing in that Sexton article that stood out to me. They asked him where does he see himself in 2 years. He said this:

quote:

In two years, I feel like I could be a great person. Also, I want to be successful, whether that's in college or in the pros.

He didn't rule out staying 2 years at Bama

If we got at least two years from him, then I would really hope we get at least one deep run in the tournament in those two years.

If we can have a good class this year next year should be another big year for us. Besides Watford Kira Lewis and Kobe Brown should be really good.

Missouri got Blake Harris to commit today. They're almost certainly getting Tilmon and still have a shot at Mark Smith and Kevin Knox. Crazy what hiring Michael Porter's dad has done for them.

Also if players can ask for a release and go somewhere else this easily then what is the point of signing the LOI???

Typically the only time a player gets a release from a LOI is when a coaching change is made and/or extreme circumstances

For example, if Auburn's Chuma Okeke got offered by UNC today and wanted a release to go there we'd tell him to pound sand (nicely) and wouldn't give it

They got super fortunate with a few things

-Cuonzo can't coach but he is a good recruiter
-Washington fired Lorenzo Romar (get Porter Jr)
-Illini fire Groce (Tilmon likely freed from LOI)

Mizzou is set up to make a run for sure

You think this is bad, just wait until late summer/early fall when no sportswriter in Alabama even writes a sentence on basketball

Luckily, the NBA playoffs, Stanley Cup, and some more golf come to help pass time.....oh yeah then there's that football thing.

But let Auburn or Alabama have some kind of success and they'll be all over that for views. Wish they wouldn't be bandwagon writers

That sucks, but I don't like the idea of giving a position to a parent just so their kid will come here. Other than setting a bad precedent, it could cause locker room issues if the player loses playing time or the dad thinks their kid should have a bigger role.

I'd also rather add someone who can come in and play next year and not have to sit out. With Sexton possibly being one and done, I'd rather bolster the roster while he's here. Plus if we start winning, we'll gain exposure and land other top tier recruits.

His dad just pretty much confirmed that wasn't going to happen.
