He's a guy that I actually like better than Walton just looking at their tape. Walton is supposed to be the better shooter, but Smith has a smoothness not commonly seen in a 6'7" player.

He may end up being better than Walton. I’ve heard Walton’s a little lazy

Just looked at his film. Nice addition. He must not be consistent if he is only a three star because he has skills and is long.

He's a 4-star on Rivals and 247. 247composite has him as a 3-star because ESPN is terrible at grading outside of the top 100 prospects and hasn't even given him a profile.

I'm ashamed to admit I've watched no film on him and haven't done my research. Should I be happy with this commit? Obviously he doesn't turn the dial like a Lewis or Watford commit.

He’s an under the radar player. He just recently burst onto the scene. He was starting to get recruited a lot more but once again Avery and the staff got on him early. Sort of like Herbert Jones was. A high 3-star and a 4-star on some sites. He’ll be a good addition for sure. But now we’ve gotta make sure to land at least one of the big boys (either Watford or Lewis). Landing both would be incredible

I believe so. He doesn't have many holes in his game. Excellent finisher, athletic, very solid ball-handling at 6'7", solid shooter and a great positional passer.

Athletic, but release is too low on his jumper. May have trouble getting it off in the SEC.

Havent been keeping up with everything as much this offseason, saw we got a commit today but where do we stand with Lewis and Watford?? What are our chances of Lewis coming early??

As of today we lead for Lewis. If Kentucky offers, they’ll lead. Might offer this month. Doubt Kira would reclassify but I’ve heard there’s actually a legit chance. Watford seems to be trending towards Memphis. Would say about 50/50.

Idk. Someone here posted that awhile back. I haven’t heard anything else about that. I know he actually just visited Ole Miss and I know there’s a chance he could reclassify. But I don’t think there’s any chance he goes there. Sounds like it’s Bama and Kentucky right now

I think we should really hope Wiseman picks Kentucky. A commitment from him probably makes it more likely Lecque goes there as well. With Lecque and Maxey on board, I doubt Kentucky would offer Kira. At the very least those two would make it less appealing to Kira in terms of likely playing time.
Wiseman and Watford are the only two top tier players Memphis seems to be doing well with at the moment. If Memphis misses on Wiseman, I doubt Watford would want to go there without much of a supporting cast.

Yeah, he's going to be huge for us this year. If Petty can be consistent, those two guys are going to cause some problems for other teams from outside. Then, Dante, and the other bigs have room to operate inside.

I would like to see us regularly play Memphis. It's not too far. The team gets to play in a professional arena. I expect them to be solid under Penny but beatable, and I expect them to have enough intrigue around the program that we could get the game on national TV.

Just got done watching the VT game. We was a fun team to watch when Petty was Hot. Hopefully he is more consistent this year, if we can get him and Mack to be consistent we are gonna be a really good team.
