When's the next time we'll truly be a contender in the SEC. I'm not just talking about making a run in the SECT either. I'm talking one month left in the SEC, and we're only 2-3 games back from winning the conference. It's also hard to argue what Avery has done here, but I do question whether or not he can get us there with the late-season collapses.

I think if he can land Kira and Trendon, well have arguably a top 3 SEC roster in 2019. So we have no excuse not to compete then. He’s improved our record by one game every year and got us to the tourney year 3 like he said he would, so I’m optimistic we’ll win the SEC at least one time with him

The late season collapses and inability to protect home court don't give me the warm and fuzzies about being able to actually win the SEC at any point in the near future.

I think Avery has done a good job results wise so far, but I agree with Bryant here. We've been far too inconsistent under him for me to expect us to compete for a regular season conference title soon. I think we're more likely to make a tournament run, NCAA or SEC, than win the conference title under Avery.

ESPN way too early 2019 draft has Herb Jones at #17

Petty at #39

I would guess Dazon would play PG most of the time with Herbert and Avery Jr occasionally filling in

Has anybody heard anything from Kira's visit? Does he have a new car yet?

I mean, Saban's Mercedes dealership already opened up right? I'm sure he supports the other programs

All I know is he DID make it to campus. He was smiling and hugging the coaches and seemed happy to be there

Hasn't Dazon started every game he's been healthy for? I think he's going to start at the point regardless of Butler and Kira.

If we get Kira, he’s gonna start. If we don’t, then maybe Dazon will start

I can't fully explain Avery. At times, he looks like the brilliant ex-NBA player/coach like with the Oklahoma game plan where we just owned them. Or when we destroyed the best Auburn team in my lifetime in Coleman. Then there's the Avery that couldn't figure out how to defend Missouri in Coleman, even after a half where they shot the lights out. Or stop UT-Arlington. Someone who watched his team roll over and take a beating against Texas. He's so inconsistent. His recruiting and recruiting staff has been excellent. His tactical moves, hot and cold. That's going to get him fired again because he tends to go cold at exactly the wrong time.

The rest of the league will, for the most part, take another step forward this season. Without our lottery pick, will we? If not, we're going to get passed by several teams. I'm just not comfortable with the roller coaster ride Avery has been. I hope I'm wrong and he puts it all together, but I'm afraid we're in for more of the same, which to me, isn't good enough. If slipping into the Dance at the last second is your goal, then Avery is your man. If you aspire higher, we need to look elsewhere. Remember, just making the tourney is something roughly 20% of Division 1 does. I want more than a "B" for Bama basketball. That's just my opinion.
