Where does that reputation come from? Ogbeide is the only solid player 247 gives him credit for.

UGA fans and pretty much every news source on both UGA and Alabama's side reported it that way. As far as 247's accounts of coach's recruitment commits, it's not entirely accurate. I don't know who all Rosemond was involved with at UGA, but I know at the very least Teshaun Hightower is missing from the list. I just looked at all of the UGA commits for the past 2 recruiting classes (8 total guys) and not one of them has an assistant assigned to them.

He landed Mack (who's probably our most valuable addition since he started) and whiffed in a year where we didn't have any easy top 150 guys to lasso in. I just think it's a little early to label him a bad recruiter.

Bird, educate those of us who are not connected. What is the game that college coaches are expected to play with the AAU? Thanks. Curious.

AAU teams are notorious for steering players towards colleges and expect special love from coaching staffs that are interested in their players. Fox wouldn't even give them the time of day. I give him mad props for it, but it makes it tough for him and his assistant's to bring in top players.

Memphis seems like a real threat for Watford.

Yeah as of now, Bama doesn’t have a real shot with Okoro

Yes as of now. Maybe some good non-conference games will be announced too like the BHam and Huntsville ones

Avery had a bad 2018 class compared to last years, and a lot of other SEC teams had way better classes. That’s fine if he makes up for it by having the great 2019 class we all expected. But I’m telling you now, if he misses out on Trendon and Kira, and we continue to be a bubble team and don’t see significant improvement, his seat will be on fire, and rightly so

Right now, it seems that Kira is about to be offered by Kentucky (possibly this weekend), and everyone is saying that he’ll go there if offered. Now Memphis is all of a sudden overtaking us for Trendon. Those are the top 2 in-State kids. As the head coach of the University of Alabama, you DO NOT lose those kids, especially to a team out of state smh

Losing out to Kentucky will always be on the cards, so while disappointing, losing Kira to them would have to be acceptable. Just like UK losing Damien Harris to us in football doesn't mean Mark Stoops blew it. Kentucky is just a program that you have to accept you're going to lose guys to.

Losing Watford to Memphis on the other hand would simply mean Penny and their staff beat us out and would be pretty damning of Avery. Memphis has a good basketball tradition, but it's not good enough to make them have any more allure than us.

I'm surprised he doesn't have any really good offers. 17.7 PPG on just under 52% shooting for one the best AAU teams there is.

His weakness is that he's poor from deep, 28% on only 32 3 point attempts, and I guess given that his height projects him as a 2 guard instead of a small forward, that's really holding him back.

If we don't get Watford or Kira, there really isn't a backup plan. Walton would be the only guy left that I'd feel good about. Maybe we could swing Greg Gantt, but we really need a point guard. I guess we offered Crowley who's a two guard that can't shoot, so we could force him to play the point

If Watford really is already recruiting people to Memphis, nothing in Alabama's basketball recruiting history would scream foul play more.

Having said that I read the article and all it says is that Watford was talking about Memphis when Hurts was asked if any prospect was recruiting him to a school. Memphis may have been brought up because they are actively recruiting both guys and that he just got done with a Memphis visit.

2019 SF Diante Smith (unranked on 247) and Alabama have mutual interest LINK

"There appears to be mutual intrigue between Smith and Alabama. The school's proximity to his home and the opportunity to be a key figure in the SEC from the beginning are enticing factors."

Gongora what are you hearing on them? Like others have said, it would be pretty damning for Avery to miss out on these two huge recruits, especially since it would be going in to Avery's fifth year. I would melt.

I think we lead for both, but I’m much more confident to sign Watford than Lewis. Gotta give lots of credit to Pett for identifying Kira early and building a strong rapport with him. Let’s hope it’s enough to hold on to him because the big dogs are definitely after him now.

Kira Lewis canceled his Bama visit bc he had to go to the USA basketball tryouts. He hasn’t rescheduled. Will visit Kentucky on the 10th LINK
