That's not an unreasonable miss, there were a lot of typically reliable insiders outside of the AU circle who felt he would be fired.
Truth is, Bruce Pearl probably coached himself out of being fired.

Idk if he truly was told bad info or if he was trolling, but I remember telling y’all I didn’t know for sure if he really had Auburn connections.
He’s good at letting Bama fans know what recruits were getting and missing out on, but I’m not sure what else he knows

There were insiders who felt he could be fired, but I don't know of many that outright said it would happen. He absolutely coached himself out of it, and that's probably why reliable insiders didn't post with any absolute certainty. There's a lot of non-insiders that thought there was a chance it would happen too.

I think any type of successful seasonw ould have been enough to "coach himself out of it." The Auburn fan base has been very vocal about not wanting a knee jerk firing of Bruce and "actual proof of wrongdoing"

"Insiders" all year were predicting he'd be fired but attaching qualifiers to cover their arse. I'm sure if you gave them even average odds, they'd all have taken them and put money on the line.

Mark is halfway a troll and halfway a real insider. I’ve followed him on twitter for a couple of years and he truly does call a lot of stuff. But he does troll a lot, so it’s hard to know when he’s serious

I'm with you, he's actually a pretty legit insider though. He probably keeps things vague when he's asked to so that he can maintain his credibility for his sources.
Since it was in response to his tweet about transfers, it doesn't seem like good news for us.
Id rather have vagueness than have an "insider" spouting off common sense and deductive reasoning as factual inside information.

For example with Mark, last year he posted a tweet that said “HEARING THINGS” and right after that Key entered the draft. Then he did the same thing right before Sark left Bama

Petty basically told reporters he’s coming back. Hall won’t leave either. Key and Dazon are the two I’m watching for. I feel like one of those may leave. Norris and Giddens wouldn’t surprise me either

I would put Key leaving at 90%....wouldnt bother me at all.
