My guess is Baylor is forking over the cash, and that's where he'll land.

This way of thinking just makes us look bitter. I know it's what is spread when something like this happens, but I look at it as Alabama didn't progress as the season ended and Ferguson did what he had to do. Should've done it sooner, but he didn't.

It almost seemed like he committed to Alabama football more than Alabama basketball. His Twitter was all about the football team's successes and you rarely saw him talk about Alabama basketball. I'll also say I believe that he had other players that he thought would follow him to Alabama and make it easier. I think that not happening made it harder for him to believe in what he had committed to.

It sure seems like it is uphill sledding to try to convince 18 year old kids to come to a school like Alabama(in it's current basketball state) when those same kids are being courted by the likes of Kansas, Baylor, etc. It takes a special personality, which I believe Alabama has in CAJ. I think he will get his guys and get the job done eventually but I don't envy his position. He wanted a challenge at the college level and he sure got his money's worth!

We just need a good instate group like Randolph and lacy and we will be OK.

Not sure how you're not seeing this. He committed to Alabama when we were picked 13th in the sec. He decommitted when we were on the good side of the bubble. There's zero chance he decommitted because of what he saw at Alabama.

And Jerry Meyer, probably the best HS basketball recruiting analyst, basically told me over twitter that there was shady shite going down with his recruitment. He said his recruitment was "going to make up a whole chapter" in his future book. In a BOL article, he said it would be best if Avery just let him go. It would make zero sense for CAJ to bail on the recruitment unless things got dirty. It's not just Bama fans that think he got paid. It's national guys.

Giddy Potts from MTSU is from Athens, Al. I don't understand why people say the state doesn't produce talent for our recruiting trouble.

What recruiting troubles? Bigger schools are going to take the athlete over the pure basketball player that doesn't have the measureables. We always get solid players we just haven't had the coaching.

Agreed. I've seen around the board that the state doesn't produce a lot of talent. I think we do. If we own the state; we won't have anything to worry about.

In-State talent is on par this year...

John Petty 5* (If Petty commits to Avery, it would mean what Julio meant to Saban)
Alex Reese 4*
Herb Jones 4*
Jamal Johnson 4*
Garrison Brooks 3*
Bradley Belt 3*

Where do we stand with those players? We offered them? They interested? Which are we most likely gonna have a good shot at?

5* John Petty is from my hometown, Huntsville. His Johnson team had a game vs Butler this year (last one ever) at the VBC one night. I know Avery Johnson and coaching staff were there, and talked to him. How interested is he in Bama? no idea. But surely some interest if Avery made the trip.

4* Jamal Johnsons dad played at Bama....that can't hurt i'd assume.

Been watching highlights of our incoming players and didn't realize Nick King was the #12 prospect in his class!

I knew he was good and knew that people were saying he was the best player on our team, but I didn't know he was ranked so high coming out of high school, I would've expected him to be ranked around 50 or something just bc we got him but he was ranked 12 and shouldve been

That's the thing. We will never own the state, but we should get our fair share. Alot of the great ones will go the blue blood route. We just need to find those diamonds to sprinkle in.

Notable tide players from 2000-2010

Players in bold from the state

Jamychal Green
Jermareo Davidson
Alonzo Gee
Richard Hendrix
Ronald Steele
Chuck Davis

Earnest Shelton
Kennedy Winston
Mo Williams
Rod Grizzard
Antoine Pettway
Erwin Dudley

Gerald Wallace

I mean, this is quite the haul of talent in a 10 year span, and the instate guys we didn't get during this time frame were stellar as well. WTF happened since then?

No I won't include any of Grant's recruits because even though a few were highly rated, none were as good as the worst on this list.
