Tennessee is just ahead of us on the bubble though, so won't it benefit us more if they lose? I understand it would be nice to have the 2 seed, but more openings on the bubble would be nice also.

Our chances of getting an at-large bid are slim to none. We have a much better chance of winning the SECt than we do relying on an at-large bid, and our chances winning the tournament as the 2 or 3 seed are much higher than they would be as the 4, and even more so as the 5. We're in no sort of position to be relying on somebody else to give us a bid. That said, Kentucky and Ole Miss both play before us and Tennessee on Saturday. So if Kentucky and Ole Miss lose assuring us of a top 3 seed, then yea you'd probably want to cheer for Mizzou to beat UT.

I agree with this. But how the hell are we still sitting in the first four out on Lunardi's bracket? I guess everyone else keeps losing so he is running out of teams to put in the tournament.

Basically. If you look at his last four in, first four out everyday, usually six of those teams lose that night It really is pathetic. And if we beat Georgia and win two in Nashville we might have some chance. You have to keep in mind though some bubble spots will disappear when upsets happen in conference tournaments. Even Palm has us listed as his 3rd team out today, and he's been saying we have zero shot all along

And back to what the other guy said about wanting UT to lose for our bubble chances, I'll also add that us beating UGA at home and UT losing to Mizzou at home likely won't move us ahead of them in the pecking order anyway. But who knows.

Here's what ESPN's bubble watch has to say about us. They have us only in front of Arkansas amongst SEC bubble teams.

quote:

Alabama [19-11 (11-6), RPI: 60, SOS: 85] I'll be honest: I find it very difficult to have much of an opinion at all about Alabama. It's just a totally nondescript team this season, with no real analytical identity, and that goes for its NCAA tournament resume, too. For example: A 7-7 record against the RPI top 100 is nice, but it doesn't get you very far when none of those wins came on the road (and only one, over Villanova, came at a neutral-court site) and none of them were against a team ranked higher than Kentucky in the RPI or better than ... well, I don't know -- Tennessee? South Dakota State? Point is, there are no real wins here, but there are bad losses (Dayton, Mercer, Tulane, Auburn) and absolutely nothing to get you excited about the Crimson Tide's prospects in the bracket. It's not a bad team, but it's hardly a good one. The overall effect is: meh.

Optimism abounds!

The only reason I want UT to beat Mizzou and Ole Miss to lose is that it would allow us to play UK. I think that's our best chance of making it to the final. I don't think we have a prayer against Mizzou. We've got to avoid them. I know if UT wins, it'll put them in the tourney so that sucks, but it's best for us IMO.

Figure out what the seeds would be in that scenario I mentioned. If this scenario does hold true, I don't know who gets what seed.

Florida 15-3
Alabama 12-6
Kentucky 11-7
Missouri 11-7
Ole Miss 11-7
Tennessee 11-7

Kentucky is 3-1 against those other three.
Ole Miss is 3-2 against the other three.
Tennessee would be 2-3
Mizzou would be 1-3.

So it would be 3 Kentucky 4 Ole Miss 5 Tennessee 6 Mizzou

And Mizzou would beat UK I'm assuming so if we did make the semis, we'd have to play them regardless

At least they'd be playing their third game in three days in that scenario.

If we could have beat Ole Miss, I would have loved to have that 4 seed. We'd have a shot of beating a likely more solid team in our first game, and even if we lost to UF it would've been much less damaging than losing to anyone else and with the crumbling of the bubble teams I think that probably would've gotten us in. Not that it'd matter because we wouldn't have had a shot at the 4 seed. Not excited about playing Mizzou though.

What would happen if UK won and the other 2 lost? I know we would get the 2 seed, but what about Mizzou, UT, and Ole Miss?

2 Alabama
3 Kentucky
4 Ole Miss
5 Tennessee
6 Mizzou

I'm positive about 2-4, and 99% sure about 5 and 6.

Let's say LSU beats OM, UF beats UK, and Mizzou beats UT. That means Mizzou would be 2, we'd be 3, and UT would be 6th right? That'd make our quarterfinal game against UT a play in game IMO. That'd give us another good win. I'd like that too.

What if we pull an SEC tourney win out of our asses?

Should it ignite hope, or set us up for a bigger letdown in the NCAA Tourney?

Alright, what if us, Mizzou, and UK wins. I believe all those teams would be 1-1 against the other two teams.

I've changed my mind on tomorrow. I want UT to lose and then UK/OM lose too.
