Castillo is looking good early on. He has faced the minimum through 2 and has struck out 3.

Final Alabama 12 ULL 6. We scored 12 on 21 hits. Hopefully the offense has figured things out now

Two big story lines so far this season emerging...
1) Will we get consistent hitting (we score in bunches and then go silent)
2) How long will Ray get to adapt to starting before Eicholtz, Bramblett, or Keller get a shot to take the Sunday spot.
*Our bullpen has been stout and moving Ray back to closer good put it over the top

Yea I wouldn't be surprised to see Keller get a shot in the weekend rotation. He's started SEC games in the past and he's been really good this year. He actually leads the team in innings pitched right now, and has posted a 1.15 ERA.

Looking forward to seeing what Eicholtz can do against Auburn. I think he may be the Sunday starter when SEC play rolls around.

It's certainly starting to look like it won't be Castillo. I'm interested to see the rotation for this weekend to see if he or Keller gets the nod Sunday. Keller has been invaluable in his long relief role, so good you'd almost hate to take him out of it. You can't let Castillo continue to struggle the way he has though once SEC play rolls around. I bet Ray gets another start Sunday but if he doesn't look sharp, Keller or Eicholtz will be the guy next Sunday against Kentucky.

If Keller could give us the kind of innings from the rotation he has from the pen we would be in great shape. Bramblett, Hawley, and Eicholtz could provide the long relief.

Yea no doubt, plus Castillo is stretched out and always been able to throw multiple innings. Anybody heard any updates on Oczypok? He'd be another long option. Guilbeau is another. We've got a ton of pitching depth.

Salem and Moore single in the first, putting runners on 1st and 2nd with one out. Back to back fielder's choices end the top of the 1st though.

Eicholtz somehow pitches a scoreless first despite throwing 27 pitches. He went to full counts with each of the first two hitters and allowed a single and a walk. Then for some reason Auburn gave us an out when they tried to sac bunt with their 3-hole hitter. A strikeout, another walk, and a lineout ended the inning with the bases loaded.

Alabama goes in order in the top of the 2nd, Eicholtz gives up a two-out walk but nothing else in the bottom half. Three walks and 44 pitches for him already. No score after 2.

Alabama goes in order in the 3rd, making it 8 straight Tide hitters retired. With two outs in the bottom of the inning, Eicholtz hits a batter and the next one goes deep. 2-0 Auburn. First earned runs Eicholtz has allowed this year (12.2 innings). Really rough outing for him thus far.

With Wass and Overstreet on following singles, Hughston and Haynie both come through with two-out hits to tie the game at 2 in the 4th. Tide leaves them loaded in the fourth after Vincent walks and Salem grounds out to end the inning. 2-2, B4.

Alabama down in order in the 5th and 6th. Taylor Guilbeau replaces Eicholtz to start the bottom of the 6th. Not the smoothest outing for Eicholtz by any stretch, but I guess you have to like the way he battled and limited damage. He did settle down and didn't allow a baserunner in his last two innings. His final line:

5 IP, 2 ER, 2 H, 3 BB, 1 HBP, 81 pitches

Game tied at 2.

Auburn takes the lead in the 6th on an unearned run. Runner reached on catcher's interference with one out, throwing error on a pickoff attempt moved him to 3rd and he scored on a single. 3-2 Auburn in the 6th.

Alabama ties it in the seventh with hits by Haynie, Salem, and White. Still have runners on 2nd and 3rd with one out as Auburn goes to the pen.

Aaaand we strand those runners on, a common refrain so far this season. 3-3 at the stretch.
