Alabama baseball opened its fall ball exhibition slate with a 13-2, 12-inning win over Lipscomb at Sewell-Thomas Stadium on Friday, as a variety of Crimson Tide players contributed to the victory.
The Returners
* Justin Lebron reached base in three of his four plate appearances, including a two-run home run to right-center, a walk and a hit-by-pitch
* Bryce Fowler finished 1-for-3 with one double, one walk and one RBI
* Peyton Steele collected one double, a sacrifice fly and two RBI to make up his 1-for-3 effort
* Jason Torres was 2-for-3 with a pair of base-hits, scoring a run
* Zane Adams took the hill to start the ballgame, striking out four over 2.0 innings
* JT Blackwood, Zach Kittrell, Connor Lehman and Austin Morris combined to toss 6.0 shutout innings while being responsible for just four hits
The Newcomers
* Justin Osterhouse clubbed a two-run home run to right-center, adding a sacrifice fly to close his 1-for-3 evening
* Sam Christiansen impressed by reaching base in all three of his plate appearances, lining two doubles to go with a one RBI and one walk
* John Lemm drove in a pair of runs with a double to mark his 1-for-3 line
* Evan Taylor was 1-for-3 with a double and a walk
* Myles Upchurch didn't allow a baserunner over 2.0 perfect innings, punching out five Bisons hitters
* Kaden Humphrey totaled four strikeouts while not allowing a run in his 2.0 innings of work
From Head Coach Rob Vaughn
"It was a great night of baseball here in Tuscaloosa. Our pitchers were outstanding. Through a 12-inning scrimmage, we punched 16 or 17 guys out and only put two on for free. We swung the bat extremely well. We hit a couple homers, really controlled the strike zone and had a couple big two-out RBI knocks. The brand of baseball we played tonight was the most important point of emphasis for me, and I thought we rang the bell. We have to get a lot better between now and February, but it was a good barometer of where we're at this point in the fall. A couple days off, a good week of practice and then off to Clemson."
