If we only have 3 spots left I hope we get McKinnley Jackson, Ennis Rakestraw, Jr. and Alfred Collins.

A bunch of 247 analysts had Collins in their personal 5-Star rankings.

We have the same top-3. I like Collins A LOT, but I'm not optimistic we can land him. And I like Van Pran or Burroughs at #4.

McKinnley, Baker, Collins then Van Pran or Burroughs. We are going to kill it in CB recruiting next year. I'm worried about how many WRs we pull from the 2021 class. Of course if Agiye Hall comes aboard I don't care much who Bama gets after that.

247 has removed the Rankings Council Members Personal 5-stars from that index page I posted a couple days ago.

I guess they removed them to add suspense for Tuesday's ranking release.

That Clemson mod, Anna Hickey, uploaded her 5-stars last night:

2. Bryce Young
7. Will Anderson
22. Drew Sanders
26. Chris Braswell

I wonder if we have any shot at Van Pran or Collins at all?

Long highly competitive business-to-business sales cycles involving multiple sellers and decision influencers and developing trusting, candid relationships with the key people in the buyer's camp is pretty similar to CFB recruiting. There's an old adage about that kind of selling:

"If you're not pretty certain you're winning, then you're probably losing."

About what I figured. Give me McKinley Jackson on NSD, anything above that is gravy.

The early signing period makes signing day so boring.

I wonder what the ESPN coverage is going to look like. Only 11 of the ESPN top 300 are uncommitted. I'm sure they will be pressing many of them to commit on TV to fill some programming. It feels so anticlimactic though.

I get that, but to meet our needs well, it's best to fill at least 20ish of our 25ish spots in Dec. Even so, the challenge of meeting our few remaining needs well in Feb is still pretty interesting (for me) to follow. Imo, how well we meet our priority needs is more important than the Composite recruiting rankings and class scores, which don't account at all for how well the various teams met their priority needs.

I found some stats & evaluation info on Tucker:

LINK ]The 2018 PFF All-ACC First-Team Offense
quote:

The 2018 regular season is in the books and the College Football Playoffs are set. With the culmination of the regular season comes PFF's awards and all-conference selections as well as our All-American lists for both the first and second team.

The All-conference selections have been made by each of PFF's leading conference analysts based mainly on PFF's play-by-play grading process for the entire season as well as cumulative grades, game grades against quality opposition, other PFF advanced statistics and playing time.

The All-ACC selections below are headlined by the first team with the second team listed below each position.

TIGHT END

First Team: Carl Tucker, North Carolina

No ACC tight end went over 350 receiving yards and while Tucker only had 265 yards through the air, he averaged 8.1 yards after the catch per reception and didn't allow a QB pressure on 30 pass-blocking snaps.

North Carolina tight end  LINK ]Carl Tucker was also named to PFF's First-Team All-ACC. The junior from Charlotte only had 16 catches for 265 yards, but he averaged 8.1 yards after the catch per reception. He notched two touchdowns and had 16.6 yards per catch. Tucker didn’t allow a QB pressure on 30 pass-blocking snaps. Tucker had a 71.9 offensive grade according to PFF, and 83.9 pass-blocking grade, and a 73.6 run-blocking grade. He was responsible for three penalties in 214 snaps.

Maybe so, but those stats and evaluation grades still seem to bode pretty well for his abilities to both block well and be a productive receiving TE, unless we assume he wasn't all that good at getting open and/or catching most of passes thrown to him. There's a lot we can't really tell about him as a receiving TE from that limited info. I haven't watched his hudl HS highlights, which are pretty old now, and I haven't searched for any college film. Have you checked out any of his film?

LINK ]Alabama 2021 LB commit Deontae Lawson says recruitment is open, but ... (AL.com | segments)
quote:

Mobile Christian 2021 linebacker Deontae Lawson says his recruitment is still open.

But ….

“I can’t see myself de-committing,” Lawson said at the ASWA Player of the Year banquet in Montgomery last week. "I still plan on taking visits, but my heart is pretty set."

The Class 3A Lineman of the Year committed to Bama over SEC West rivals LSU and Auburn late last month. Lawson said the reaction from his family and friends following his commitment has been encouraging. “Everyone is proud, really proud,” he said. “It’s really just a blessing to have this opportunity.”

He said attending Alabama has long been a dream for him. “I just love everything about the school – the way the football program is, the coaches, everything.”

Some writers and editors craft vague, misleading or exaggerated headlines and articles to create controversy and drama to trigger more clicks. Lawson wasn't actually quoted as saying his recruitment is "still open." Those words were chosen by the author, to put a misleading and more controversial spin on what Lawson really said.

I was at the fan event for the Senior Bowl, and I was standing in line with a dad and his son. His son was wearing a Mobile Christian School Jersey. They pull out their Alabama autographed football and show Lawson’s autograph on it. They go on to say that Lawson loves Alabama. TIFWIW.
