Honestly I just don't see anything that suspicious about a program that normally pulls a top 5 recruiting class when they go 9-3 or so on track to pull a top 3 class when they're in the natty discussion. Success breeds success. It's one of the reasons we always have a top class.
Alabama is a national brand and was before Saban arrived. I didn't realize it but talking to older people in NYC made me realize it. Some guys I was talking to told me all they saw growing up was Alabama, USC, and Notre Dame just about every week in the 70s. LSU is at best a regional brand. At best! LSU recruiting is typically good because Louisiana produces more NFL players per capita and not because they have such a recognizable national brand.

They do get a lot of in state talent but I think it's fair to say that while they might not have been a national brand Coach Saban and then Miles succeeding with Saban's players made them a national brand. Also we're partly to blame for their national relevance. When you have a dynasty like we have had any team that regularly competes with you becomes relevant.

Stop with all due respect. LSU is big in three states. Louisiana, Mississipp and Texas. They aren't a national brand. Gilbert is the biggest out of state player to commit to LSU since...Patrick Peterson maybe. And, that was a recruitment that had a whole lotta smoke around. Trust me on that!

Mater Dei's receivers can't catch crap these last two drives.

LSU hasn't won a national championship since 2007 I believe. And, yet they are recruiting nationally at the same level as Bama and Clemson. That doesn't seem strange to you? Hell, Clemson is JUST getting to be able to recruit nationally.

Young goes deep but called back for ineligible downfield. Dropped bomb on the next play then Young scrambles for 20 on 2nd and long

Young throws a strike on 3rd and long. Receiver hangs on after getting popped. Under 9 minutes left

Well they've gotten 4 stars from Utah, Alabama, New York, Florida, Tennessee, and Michigan in the last 2 years so I guess they're branching out. Yes they historically recruit close to home but that's primarily because there is so much talent there. It's why we recruit Louisiana as hard as we do.

MD punts to the 5 yd line with just under 7 minutes

Just change your name to GoTigers33 LOL. Seriously, many of those guys they got from out of state weren't guys that Bama wanted. Now, LSU is having a good offensive season and they take a recruit that Bama wanted; a kid from the Atlanta area at that. Something's amiss.

Not really. Georgia hasn't won a natty since the 80's but they've been top 2 since Kirby got there. Some guys are just good recruiters. Coach O had always been a good recruiter. He's not great at the x's and o's but he's hired well with Aranda and Brady. I mean I don't understand his recruiting process since he doesn't speak English but apparently recruits understand him.

PI in the end zone. Sheesh
Still 4th down. Incomplete pass. Guess it’s not automatic 1st down on PI in high school
