LINK ]Rivals Rankings: Predictions on uncommitted Rivals100 4-stars (segments)
quote:

Phillip Webb
Last week, the Rivals analysts broke down the recruitment of the remaining uncommitted five-stars. After further analysis, there are only 13 four-stars remaining in the Rivals100 who still have not made a pledge. So today, we break down those players and the regional analysts make a pick on where they think those players are headed.
LINK ]Phillip Webb (4-star OLB) is a recruit that likes to keep to himself about his recruitment. His 18th birthday was over the weekend, and he was back at LSU for an unofficial visit. This visit surprised some, but it really shows how serious he is about these Tigers. Some view Alabama and another Tigers, Auburn, as the favorites, but LSU looks to be right there. He has also taken an official visit to Oklahoma, but the buzz is still mostly around the SEC schools. A decision could come at any time, but Webb is expected to finish out his five official visits. – Chad Simmons, Southeast
LINK ]Reggie Grimes (4-star WDE) -- South Carolina. The Gamecocks are the leader in the clubhouse and while schools such as Tennessee and Oklahoma are still involved, it seems like it’s close to a done deal at this point. – Wommack

The weight can be fixed but I was hoping for a guy that can come I was hoping for that instant impact guy! Nothing wrong with that
I was looking at his rivials announcement on U-Tube and face and shoulders wise he looks like he already trimed some weight.
Looking at his flim the Kid was quick of the ball for his size, aggressive with a good motor...So let see what he looks like after our program has shaped him a little.

Three-Point Stance: Big commits, rankings questions, freshmen

1. BREAKING DOWN RECENT COMMITS
quote:
DT Jamil Burroughs, Alabama – Burroughs is an athletic big man who really pushes the pocket and can blow up running and passing plays with his ability to knock offensive linemen into the backfield.

2. BIG QUESTIONS AS RANKINGS REFRESH NEARS
We are still a good month or so away from 2020 re-rankings meetings, but there are many questions that have come up in my mind as we crawl towards a fresh Rivals100 and Rivals250.
Is Zachary Evans still the best running back in the country? There is a real debate coming up as Evans has had some off-field issues that have led to question marks about his ability to impact at the next level. Bijan Robinson and others have had better seasons.
Who is the most underrated player in the country right now? Could it be quarterback Bryce Young at No. 53? Or perhaps Walker Parks at No. 56? Desmond Evans at No. 48? This will be a very interesting discussion.
Is D.J. Uiagalelei still the No. 1 prospect in the country? Every analyst did their own top five and I’m not sure any of them had Uiagalelei as the No. 1 prospect in the country. However, that doesn’t mean he'll lose that top spot as there was no consensus for who should replace him.
Who’s the top tight end in the country, Arik Gilbert or Darnell Washington? Two freaks we will have to debate once again.
Is Paris Johnson Jr. the top OT in the country? Or is it Tate Ratledge or someone else? It’s not a great year at offensive tackle on the surface, but I think it’s a sneaky good year at the position.
Will one of the talented linebackers add a fifth star? Quandarrius Robinson, Phillip Webb, Trenton Simpson and Derek Wingo are just a few of the linebackers on the cusp of five-star status.

Take Two: Will LSU challenge Bama, Auburn for Webb?
quote:
THE STORYLINE
There are some people who believe this is an Auburn and Alabama battle, but four-star linebacker Phillip Webb was back at LSU this weekend and he saw an outstanding win for the surging Tigers over Florida.
The Sugar Hill (Ga.) Lanier standout adds to the intrigue of his own recruitment because Webb doesn’t say much about his true frontrunners, which makes it tough for an accurate prediction.
He’s been to LSU numerous times and Webb has to like how the Tigers are playing this season.
But Alabama certainly has a whole lot to like and it sounds like Auburn has always been a presumed frontrunner from the early stages of his recruitment. All the schools involved in his recruitment have had outstanding defenses over the last few years.
Webb has also taken an official visit to Oklahoma but the Sooners – despite its rampant success – seem like an outlier at this point.
Can LSU convince Webb to join this recruiting class, will Alabama land another elite player in its class or can Auburn hang on to a player it’s been involved with the longest?
FIRST TAKE: Jimmy Smith, TigerDetails.com
“LSU surged to the top of Webb's board after a strong unofficial visit this summer. There was a period of time they thought a commitment could be imminent, only for schools like Alabama, Auburn and Clemson to close the gap shortly thereafter. The Tigers are in desperate need of edge defenders and Webb could certainly add to a thin group, but it feels like the Tigers from Baton Rouge trail some of the other schools mentioned for his services.
“With Florida edge defender Donell Harris presumably leaning toward LSU at the moment, and only four available scholarships at their disposal, the Tigers are prepared to move in another direction if need be. However, there are signs they may have a shot with Webb, so they will gladly continue that push for now.”
SECOND TAKE: Mike Farrell, Rivals.com
“I think he stays closer to home. He would be a great fit for any defense. He can be that hybrid guy off the edge or he can be that stand-up linebacker. He fits what they do with guys like Arden Key and others who have had success at that position.
“I still think Auburn. He still has the strongest relationship with the coaches there. They were the team he sort of liked first, so I would say Auburn and then Alabama would be my No. 2 for him.”

Rivals Roundtable: Which WR should climb the rankings?
quote:
Xzavier Henderson is having a nice season in South Florida and could gain some ground in the rankings. He may not move into the top 10 but he's certainly made his case to jump some people ranked in front of him. The long, smooth wideout is taking a hard look at schools such as Alabama, Florida and Clemson.
quote:
Kayshon Boutte sits at No. 18 in the country but is primed to crack the top 10 following his senior season. The LSU commitment has freakish combine scores and has improved his hands, route running and broadened his catch radius. He's in consideration as perhaps a top-10 receiver and maybe the state's top prospect.

Game video analysis: Kyle Edwards
ETA: After watching this short highlight video I seem some real similarities, physical-wise, between Edwards and TJ Yeldon. Long torso, short legs. Thick lower body.

Is Myers Park’s Drake Maye still sold on Bama? Vance LB Power Echols plans decision

“Right now, I’m all Roll Tide,” he said. “(Young committing) is something I’ll definitely factor in, but I’m going to head down there this weekend and looking forward to getting down there. But right now I’m just focused on the season. (College) is a long way away. I’ve still got another year, but right now I’m still all Alabama.”

Welp. It's official.
I will be out of the country for the LSU, Mississippi State and Western Carolina games.
Damnit.
ETA: Well, technically I won't be out of the country for the WCU game, but Alaska is far enough away to count.
