We're really young on Dline and don't have experienced depth due to injuries...so maybe it seems worse off than it really is... Who do you think, currently on roster, is a future 1st rounder on dline?

Our DL injury situation really isn't bad now. Ray (broken foot) is still out. Wynn, Davis, Dale and Eboigbe have been banged up some, but they're practicing and playing now. I can't project future 1st rounders, but I am confident that ALL of our DLs (except Musika) have good NFL potential.

Looking at the depth distribution chart...

Keep in mind at Bama NT is DT and the other 2 spots are DEs. And some guys BOL lists as DT could play DT and/or DE (e.g., Mathis, Baremore, Young, Latham and Smith after S&C). So I label them DL on the 2nd post. Also, the number (#-#) of expected takes for each position group on the 2nd post are pretty accurate.

ETA: I failed to mention earlier -- current commit Jayson Jones isn't expected to sign with Bama.

Burroughs shows flashes. I just don't get why kids that big want to finesse all day. All the camp video I've seen I haven't seen any of him overpowering anyone.

Maybe the kids who've just been overpowering smaller kids in HS are focusing on developing their technique repertoire at camps.

Maybe...I mean I didn't watch all his highlights just would've liked to have seen some power.

Just say no to Burrough.

Kinda like that anti-drug campaign in the late 80s.

It looks like Georgia's loss to South Carolina did more than just knock them out of the title race talk:

In addition, five-star tight end Darnell Washington asked D.J. Uiagalelei to get a Clemson coach to talk to him more on Sunday night.

2018 only had 3 DL and it shows on depth chart I get that 2 red shirted and 1 was JUCO.

These days you really on get 3 years from the really great players so it kinda skews upper classmen -typically not going to have very many SRs with player leaving early and attrition.

Maybe I'm over thinking and my worrying is unfounded... 2021 roster should be very good for Dline.

Hopefully thos 2020 class will be top notch

2019 Roster

Defensive Line (12)
SR: Raekwon Davis, Tevita Musika
JR: LaBryan Ray
SO: Phidarian Mathis*
FR: Stephon Wynn*, Christian Barmore*, DJ Dale, Antonio Alfano, Justin Eboigbe, Byron Young, Ishmael Sopsher, Braylen Ingraham

2020 roster would look like

Sr: LaBryan Ray
Jr: Phidarian Mathis*
Soph: Stephon Wynn*, Christian Barmore*, DJ Dale, Antonio Alfano, Justin Eboigbe, Byron Young, Ishmael Sopsher, Braylen Ingraham

Plus the 3-4 projected from

FR
Defensive Line (3-4)
4* DL Timothy Smith 6-4/340 FL hudl ^
4* DL/OL Jah-Marien Latham 6-3/280 AL hudl *
4* DT McKinnley Jackson 6-2/327 MS hudl
4* DT Jamil Burroughs 6-2/330 GA hudl
4* DE Zykeivous Walker 6-4/260 GA hudl *
5* DE Jordan Burch 6-5/250 SC hudl ^
4* DE Alfred Collins 6-5/275 TX hudl
4* DT Jacobian Guillory 6-2/331 LA hudl *
4* DL Jaquelin Roy 6-3.5/289 LA hudl ^ LSU

2018's DL class wasn't quite adequate, but we recovered very well with our 2019 DL haul. 12 DLs for 3 positions is 4-deep. And some guys can play both DT & DE. Sopsher, Ingraham and Alfano (assuming he stays) will likely redshirt. Tough to land 2020 DLs with our great 2019 DL haul, young depth and few departures. But the other side of that coin is that taking only 3-4 2020 DLs is actually enough. Both Smith and Latham are very good prospects. So, Bama can actually afford to be very selective now with DL takes, or maybe take a project (likely redshirt) with very good upside; e.g., DT Jamil Burroughs or Reggie Grimes bulked up to DE. DL will be a higher priority for 2021, and it should also be easier to land top 2021 DL talent.

I'm not certain that's the plan, but he didn't play until the Olé Miss game. Idk yet if he played in the A&M game. There'll probably be an updated version soon of this report:

Freshman report: 10 Alabama true freshmen can no longer redshirt (BOL, Sep 28)

Javon is insinuating Bama will be flipping most, if not all of LSU's current 2020 recruiting class.
