I agree. If Saban and his staff evaluate a player, especially a player that has worked out for them on campus, I don't get concerned about his rating/ranking being lower than we'd like to see. These kids haven't even played their senior seasons yet. The recruiting sites will update the recruit rankings several more times by National Signing Day. But sometimes they still end up underrating some recruits. For example, DJ Dale wasn't very highly ranked (low 4-star) by the recruiting sites compared to how Saban and his staff felt about him. And it's looking like Dale will start as a freshman. John Metchie is another example of an underrated prospect.
Like Carlton said, "Regardless of his stars or ranking, if Saban likes him, I'm down."

How Bama can sign 27 in the 2020 cycle:
Bama took 27 in the 2019 cycle including Kaho.
However, 2018 late addition QB Layne Hatcher wasn't on a scholarship and 2018 non-qualifier Jordan Davis didn't sign an NLI. So they didn't count toward any signing or counter limits, resulting in two unused 2018-19 signing and initial counter spots that two 2019-class early enrollees could be counted against.
Also, 2019-class early enrollees Paul Tyson and Will Reichard didn't sign NLIs. It appears that was done so they could receive scholarships as replacements (under the voluntary withdrawal exception rule -- NCAA Bylaw 15.5.6.4.1) for Vandarious Cowan and Keith Holcombe, who withdrew from the team before the 2018 fall term. Per that rule, they would count toward the 85 total counters limit, but not the annual 25 signings and 25 initial counters limits.
It also appears that Bama was able to use the voluntary withdrawal exception rule to give someone (e.g., Saivion Smith or Tevita Musika) a replacement scholarship for Mekhi Brown, who withdrew after the 2017 season. If so, it wouldn't have counted toward 2018's annual limits (only the 85 limit) and would've left one more unused 2018 spot that a 2019 early enrollee could count against.
The net result of the 2019-cycle backcounting enabled by the above would result in Bama having 3 unused 2019 signing and initial counter spots available for backcounting 3 2020 early enrollees. But assuming grad-transfer commit Landon Dickerson enrolls, he'd use one of those 3 2019 spots, leaving two.
Bottom line: I think Bama can sign 27 (25 + 2 backcounted early enrollees) without requiring any blue or gray shirting.
Note: This is also posted on the 1st page of this thread, following the two posts of NCAA Bylaws sections on signing and counter limits and there's a link to it near the top of the first post.

Folks in Baton Rouge weren't talking about Joel Williams until he got that Bama offer LOL. Everyone knows LSU recruits the defensive secondary as good as anyone but when a guy from here gets that Bama offer that brings out all the spiciness LOL

Any info on Burch he’s very quiet on his recruitment. And do you think we made a move with Milton? Everyone is saying Georgia. I actually like the back from Okie Mcleellan he will not go down on first or second contact.

Roach has done a solid job recruiting the state of Alabama for Ole Miss. They’ve signed serval lower rated guys from Alabama.

Alabama’s hot streak on the recruiting trail continues as the Crimson Tide landed another top target on Sunday, this time in LINK ]Xavier Hill.
The three-star guard from Olive Branch (Miss.) chose Alabama over LSU, Mississippi State, Ole Miss, Tennessee and Texas A&M, among others, following an official visit to the Capstone over the weekend.
“My parents really think Bama is my best bet of getting developed and stuff like that, my biggest chance of achieving my goals,” Hill said of what went into his decision. After they told me that I got to thinking. I met with Coach (Nick) Saban after that, and Coach (Kyle) Flood.

"After my meeting with Coach
Saban something just clicked. He was really just telling me how much he believed in me as a player and what he thinks I can be under his program.”
It comes as no surprise that Hill’s official visit, which coincided with the Champions Cookout, went well.
“I got to build relationships with some of the the other coaches I haven’t talked to a lot,” he said. “Me and Coach Sark (Steve (Sarkisian) got to talk a lot this weekend, me and Coach (Brian) Baker got to connect more, so it was just more connections.” Baker is Hill’s primary recruiter, and is credited with landing the 6-foot-3, 325-pounder.
Tide freshman offensive lineman Pierce Quick hosted Hill this weekend. “I asked Pierce about the coaches and the workouts,” Hill said. “He was telling me everything I wanted to know. He was telling me how much he loved the program.” Hill says he’s also built a friendship with fellow Tide offensive line commitment Seth McLaughlin.

As for what’s next, Hill says he told Mississippi State he would take an official visit to the Starkville, so he says he will still likely follow through with that. He’s used the rest of his allotted visits over the course of the last month to Baton Rouge, College Station and Knoxville.
Hill is rated the No. 27 guard and the No. 469 overall player in the country, per the industry-generated 247Sports Composite Rankings.
The Tide now sits with three offensive linemen in its 2020 class with Hill on board. Texas product Damieon George and the aforementioned Seth McLaughlin make up the others two.
Alabama had a lot of success in the state of Mississippi in the 2020 cycle landing guys like four-star defensive back Brandon Turnage out of Oxford and four-star defensive tackle Byron Young, both top Ole Miss and Mississippi State targets. Outside of Hill, the Tide has its eyes set on another prospect in the Magnolia State -- four-star defensive tackle McKinnley Jackson.
