Honestly, at this point I don't think my opinion will change even if we make the tournament. I am sure that is not the correct way to look at the situation though.

Ben Howland would have this team in the NCAAT this year. The reason we're not is entirely on Avery.

Based on what? His team last year had the #10 class of freshmen, and he didn't even make the NIT. Two of his three best recruits got so fed up with him they transferred after 1 season.

Howland's first class at State was top 25. He basically immediately got talent there, and they still haven't won anything.

Why is the coach ya'll go with to say Avery is shite another coach that hasn't reached the tournament in 3 years at his school? That seems like an argument an Avery backer should be using.

Howland is 3-1 over his last 4, is one game ahead of us in the SEC, and hasn’t lost his team. He may not be lighting it up in StarkVegas but we’re in no position to throw stones.

This is the point that I'm at. I doubt we get a change, but we can hope. I'm just not happy with Avery's coaching.

Two of those 3 wins were against South Carolina and Ole Miss.

So he's doing marginally better than our horse shite squad and staff.

Yes they did.

Point is Howland isn't making the tournament either.

There's no reason to compare Avery to other coaches, and if we are, can we at least use some coaches that are having more success than Avery like Rick Barnes (same year as Avery, less talent, 1st in the SEC)

I watch our team- it's poorly coached and sucks. Who cares what other coaches would or wouldn't be doing with our team?

Right Tom, Howland is doing only marginally better than Bama right now. But should he be doing better at all?? And if changes aren’t made, I’ll wager the gap widens in their favor. He’s a proven coach. So he’s not in the Final Four in year 3 in Starkville. He’s built a solid foundation and they appear to be on a slow, steady climb. I’ll take that over what we’ve got any day.
I’m not saying we should hire Howland. But if we had, I feel we would be in a better place than we are. Marginally better is still better and there’s no good reason for it.

That's arguable because state's OOC was complete shite and we did enough to build our resume with a very good non conference. The league is strong this year whether people want to dispute that or not. We've been inconsistent but we re not completely done yet and maybe the team will realize that.

Absolutely Va. You are correct MSU’s OOC was garbage. But they are 9-8 in the SEC with losses similar to ours. Again, maybe not the impressive wins but very similar otherwise. When you factor in who we’ve beaten, you wonder how the hell they have a better conference record.

If u look at the league standings there is barely any separation beyond the top 2... Alot of close games this year. I don't think it'll be quite as tight next year. Ole miss, Arkansas, Texas A&M , Georgia, south Carolina , and Florida will have some big question marks. I still think our roster will be as good , maybe better along with some more experience. Auburn, Tennessee, and Kentucky will probably be picked near the top with us, state, LSU, and vandy the next tier..Not sure about Missouri.

Hate to break it to you, but there is no way a Sexton less Bama team is getting picked by the media preseason in the top 6 and likely won't be top 8

Bama won't be in the above tier, Vandy/Mizzou depend on if Vandys signing recovers and if Mizzou get back Jontay Porter

UF returns enough talent + a 5* PG to replace Chiozza and get back Egbinu

SC return 80% and Silva and may somehow get Bowen. If they do they'll be ahead

Way Early media Preseason projection

1. UK
2. TN
3. AU
4. State
5. LSU
6. UF
7. Mizzou
8. Vandy
9. SC
10. Bama
11. Arkansas
12. TAMU
13. Ole Miss
14. UGA

I also think SEC gets 9 teams in next year maybe even 10 if LSU/UK/Vandy don't let their youth F up early OOC schedule

On paper...There aren't 9 more talented teams than what Bama will return, coaching can be debated ad nauseum but it's not like we lose alot plus we add a solid recruiting class including tevin Mack being eligible.

You mean 30% of your offense and only competent PG/ball handler? No way the media is going to vote this team high

Every other team ahead of you either is making serious jumps forward or returning the same players from better teams
