I was pretty excited going into Grant's 3rd year with Green, Mitchel, Releford, and the recruiting class coming in. We actually started out pretty good, until Dayton (go figure).
Me too. There were some Gottfried guys that were exciting too as kids, Kennedy Winston for one. The year we had like 4 Top 50 point guards (Ron Steele, Weber).
However, purely 1 kid, I haven't been this excited since Wallace and before him the one the only Schea Cotton.

I remember that 2004 team with Winston, coach pettway, and co...Made a special run due to a difficult schedule that hardened them. Avery has created a buzz that has been missing for awhile and has a handle on recruiting. I think we have a group that has the right stuff to do special things. I think this group we have now can lay a foundation. It was interesting what caj said about how Sexton handled this hold thing...Can't say I'm surprised. He comes from a good family that is tight and very supportive. There are so many sad tales of kids who are meal tickets for their family. I believe he's a program changer along with petty and can't wait to see what this year holds

Avery was out visiting fraternities today telling them how important they were to creating the best home court advantage in college basketball

I saw that and his enthusiasm is genuine. My hope is we break the ceiling and Avery and Byrne can go to the board with justification for a new arena in the future. The sky is the limit for us because we ve come close in the past of making final 4s. Meanwhile it looks like pearl is nearing the end of his time at the barn. He may be out by tomorrow along with his staff.

For anyone that is going to the game, if you bring a canned good to help Beat Auburn Beat Hunger, you get $5 admission. Even if you already have a ticket, we'd appreciate if you could bring a canned good anyways. The drive ends tonight

I'll be there tonight. I'm cautiously optimistic about the crowd.. I think it could be pretty good. But even though they are a good team, this is still Lipscomb on a Tuesday... hence my caution. I hope it being the home opener plus Sexton being back will be a boost.

Now all we need is to implode the airplane hangar and build a real basketball arena.

Aesthetically, it is sub-par. But the great thing about Coleman is that it's noise potential is ridiculously high. The problem is that we just don't get it there. If we as fans made it what it COULD be, I think there'd be a lot less talk about replacing it. But if I was given the choice, I think I'd still break ground on a new one.

Coleman is just a terrible, awkward setup for basketball. Regardless of how loud it can get, it's just bad.

I will miss the first part of the game because I'm going to watch one of my nephews & future Alabama signee Kira play tonight. Unfortunately I'll miss out on Sexton's 32 1st half points and Petty's triple double. RTR

I dont know if thus could be done but I would be happy if they just tore down the Umbrella and redesigned the ceiling. It would hold in more noise.

Tonight, I'm thinking:
Lipscomb 97
Alabama 18
Sexton has 14, Petty hits a 3, and Herb Jones gets on the board with 1 free throw in the last 30 seconds to make the score a little more respectable.

I am looking forward to seeing if Herbert can shut down Garrison.
Regarding the previous game, former legacy Jamal Johnson had a solid game against us.

Hall, Giddens, Reese, and Smith all foul out before the first media timeout forcing Landon Fuller onto the court for 36 minutes of action.

Watching Michigan State.....Avery would have gotten Jeremy Langford.
Edit: Not Jeremy I meant Josh. Jeremy was football.

Does anybody remember the prop 48 that we signed the same year as Hollywood Robinson? He had some serious hype. Not Wallace or Sexton level but still very high. Was supposed to be on par if not better than Robinson. Believe he got into some trouble with the law and got kicked off the team.

From what I always heard Langford was always going the blue blood route. Also Gottfried had some terrible luck. Don't know what year it was but I think Ray George would've put us over the hump the year he didn't make it in and we always had transfers.
