I would agree for anyone that lives close, but it's not the same when you live 2 hours away like I do.

Yeah I agree with that. It takes me about an hour and 20 minutes to get there, and then it’s usually about another 20 minutes to find a parking spot and walk to the Coliseum. That’s almost 2 hours just getting from my house to my seat at the game just to watch 2 hours of sloppy basketball and a likely loss against any decent team. I’ve been going to games for years, and I still will when I can. But I won’t be as eager to go until I see the staff make some serious changes

I'm only going to the A&M game because I bought season tickets and will feel like I'm wasting money if I don't show up.

Call me eternally optimistic, but I'm still very excited about the potential of this team.

Our Non-Conference schedule has turned out to be even harder than anyone expected. We've played 7 currently projected tournament teams (excluding BYU and UCF who are still very much alive). Even after that loss we're 25th in RPI (Yes, Gene, I know they're supposed to be fading it out, but it's still going to be the most looked at metric ).

Outside of Hall, Sexton, and sometimes Jones (when he isn't turning the ball over) the rest of our players have not lived up to expectations. Petty has had 2 or 3 good games and a lot of underwhelming performances. Norris is clearly still getting back into the swing of things. We haven't had our best player from last year until the last 2 games and he's been straight garbage in those 2 games (clearly rusty). Giddens is never not in foul trouble. Ingram's aggressiveness still disappears for long stretches of the game. My point here isn't that these players are bad, but that the potential for massive improvement is still there. I mean I don't see ANY of those players being any worse than they have been during the non-conference stretch.

8-4 is disappointing considering preseason expectations, but with this schedule that's still the mark of a tournament team. Keeping in mind that we are also an extremely young team and that young teams typically improve as the year goes on, there's still plenty of hope here.

Solid, well reasoned post...I don't know what people expected versus this schedule. I think petty has come on the last few games so I wouldn't say he's been underwhelming. But you're right the pieces are still there on this team.

I'm not very disappointed with 8-4. That's only one game worse than what I predicted. I am disappointed in how we've looked. We're very fortunate to even have a winning record, and I can't think of one part of the game in which we're good.

I think people are too hard on Petty. He makes some pretty dumb plays, but he's our second leading scorer. He was never going to be Sexton's level and maybe people got fooled by his Canada performance. I'm not really disappointed in any of the freshmen. The older guys outside of Hall and the coaching is a different story.

I'm not disappointed with our freshmen, I'm more so just pointing out that they are freshmen.

As for the older players, Ingram is about the only one I'm a little disappointed in. Norris was out for a long time and is noticeably not in game shape. Key was out until the last 2 games and has a lot of rust to knock off. Junior shouldn't be playing. That and them not easing in Key is what I blame the staff most for.

Ive had a few days to calm down and I think if we can get to 9-9 in conf. we are in the NCAA tournament. Im pretty confident we are going to pick up a top5 win against aTm because they are missing 2 key players so that will look nice on rthe resume.

I'd say Hall has been the best of the non-freshmen, but regardless I'm not dissing Ingram. He's still one of our best players. I'm just saying he's the only one I'd say hasn't improved (barring the injured players and Junior who shouldn't be playing IMO). He's a player that is capable of playing at a much higher and consistent level than what he's currently producing. He just goes into passive mode too often.

I'm discussing the ones you mentioned by name Jr, Key, Norris, and Ingram. Ingram is a role player that averages 11 points 6.7 rebounds and 3 assists per game. I'm pretty sure he probably leads the team in minutes or close to it and there is a reason for that. Jr deserves the criticism. Never seen a point guard that consistently needs a screen just to dribble 40ft from the basket. Key doesn't even deserve time to discuss.

I'm just going to watch individual games from here out and hope we win. I can't think about it much more than that without getting intensely frustrated.

Again... This is not whether or not he's one of our best players (I whole-heartedly agree that he is). My post is to point out that he is the only non-injured returning player to not improve. It's not meant as criticism for Ingram, it's meant to point out that there is a reason a lot of our returning players are struggling (coming back from injury).

I just see a lot of hate for Ingram on this board and some say he needs to be out and it just triggers me a bit because he is far from our biggest problem.

Not just ranting at you but you gave me a chance to voice my opinion on him.

Whoever says Ingram needs to be out of the lineup is clearly off their rocker. I think most people are just frustrated with him because they can see him being a dominant force, but he gets too passive at times. I think at one point in his career here (looking at next year especially) he will be the best player on the team. He just needs to show his aggressive side more consistently.

I think the point guard role he had plays into his mindset by not being a aggressive scorer. You can see it in him at times though. Other than sexton if I had to pick someone to get me a bucket at the end I'd pick Ingram. He is a good driver and finishes or draws the foul.

I think Ingram is a solid player, but he will pass up too many good shots. Because our offense is stagnant, we usually end up with a much worse look than what he had.
