According to the Chicago Tribune, the Bears' $4.6 billion price tag on their new stadium features around half of the money coming from local tax payers, Bears fans and non-Bears fans alike. The price tag includes $3.2 billion in stadium construction costs plus another $1.4 billion in infrastructure improvements...

"The Chicago Bears are set to announce a $4.6 billion plan to build a new enclosed stadium and improved lakefront area with half of the money coming from taxpayers, sources said. But the team will have to overcome serious skepticism from several directions," the outlet wrote.

The NFL has revenues of about $20 billion. Let them fund the stadium, not the taxpayers. And didn't they modernize Soldier Field fairly recently. Just stick with that venue. The constant chasing of newer and glitzier stadiums is nauseating.

Wow, that is crazy money + $40B in unfunded retirement/pensions, and currently $640M owed from what was $400M in bonds issued 22 years ago. That math won't hunt. Hope that is put to a vote from tax payers. Oh, wait, I still remember Cobb County running over tax payers for the Braves new stadium and surrounding entertainment area and Arthur Blank's palace subsidies in Fulton Co., etc.
