COLLEGE STATION, TX – The sixth-ranked LSU women’s basketball team defeated Texas A&M, 98-54, on Thursday night inside the Reed Arena.

The Tigers are back in action on Monday, Jan. 26 to face Florida. The game will tip off at 7:00 p.m. CT inside the Pete Maravich Assembly Center in Baton Rouge, Louisiana.

With the victory, LSU improves to 18-2 overall, while Texas A&M drops to 8-7 on the season.

After exchanging baskets at the start, LSU gained momentum as MiLaysia Fulwiley drained three back-to-back three-pointers, scoring nine-straight points for the Tigers. LSU closed the half carrying a 19-point advantage, 41-22. The Tigers shot 43.2 percent on 16-of-37 shots and drained five treys. The Aggies shot 33.3 percent on 9-of-27 shots from the field.

In the second half, LSU extended their lead by 44 points, outscoring the Aggies 57-32. The Tigers shot 55.6 percent from the floor on 20-of-36 shooting, while Texas A&M were 9-of-27 (33.3%).

LSU had 49 rebounds, mostly defensive boards, and 22 assists on the game. The Tigers were also perfect at the line, going 20-of-20.

MiLaysia Fulwiley led the Tigers in scoring with 23 points on 8-of-13 shots and three treys. Grace Knox earned 19 points of 9-of-9 shots from the field. Kate Koval had 15 points to go with five rebounds. Amiya Joyner earned a double-double with 11 points and 11 rebounds. Jada Richard also scored 11 points.

The Aggies were led by Fatmata Janneh with 14 points on 5-of-10 shots and two threes.

To have our top 2 players combine for only 10 points, and still have a blowout is quite a statement about the quality depth of this team.

I was impressed with Knox early in the season. She seemed to have a little trouble with the speed of the college game but she seems to be solving that problem.
