CBS Sports writers Cody Nagel and Shehan Jeyarajah made their picks for "College Football Playoff contenders' most irreplaceable players among non-QBs in 2026."

For LSU, Nagel picked tight end Trey'Dez Green.
quote:

LSU
Most irreplaceable player: Trey'Dez Green, TE

"LSU went to great lengths to ensure Green stayed in Baton Rouge, and it's clear why. The 6-foot-7 tight end is the centerpiece of a receiving corps built around versatility and big-play ability. He can line up inside, outside or in the slot, creating constant matchup problems for opposing SEC defenses. Losing Green would leave a huge void in the Tigers' new-look offense under Lane Kiffin and Charlie Weis Jr. and rob LSU of its go-to target in the red zone." -- Nagel
Do you agree? Or what LSU position group has the most pressure in 2026?

As tigabait01 said, I go with Whit Weeks. LSU will be better on defense than last year but when Whit Weeks went out, the wheels came off. LSU DEFINITELY wins the Vandy game is Whit plays in that game...one extra win right there. Same with Houston in the bowl game IMO...another extra win.

I can't pick Whit. He barely played last year and LSU had their best defense since late 2019. I think we have LBs who can, as a unit, be good enough for LSU without Whit.

Trey'Dez Green is our best offensive weapon and one the best not only in the SEC, but in college football. This season is his money season and he's going to show out. ??????????????

It would have to be a tie between him and Seaton for me. Both are irreplaceable at their respective spots. Weis used the TE a lot in his offense over the last 3 years.

Hope he has a monster season, catches the football like his hands are full of stick'em, and they constantly find that mismatch. Utilize his skill set.
