LSU will be without reliable backup offensive line DJ Chester for the first half of the Ole Miss game on Saturday after he was ejected for targeting vs. Southeastern last week.

After the game, head coach Brian Kelly disagreed with the targeting call but named several other players on Monday who can step up if needed with Chester out for the first half:

-Braden Augustus: Backup center
-Carius Curne: Rotating tackle
-Ory Williams
-Coen Echols and Paul Mubenga will handle the rotation at guard.

Chester has played at every spot on the offensive line this season and saw action at right tackle vs. Southeastern, replacing starter Weston Davis.

Kelly said that the right tackle spot is not up for grabs and still belongs to Davis, but that they wanted to give him a break and have Chester get some reps at tackle.

The right side of the O Line will cost them in a big game if they don’t get it figured out. Davis is too slow/weak, Thompson is the same for a SEC Guard. He is serviceable but not good. Had 2 years to get the OL pieces and coached up.
