LSU coach Brian Kelly spoke with reporters after practice this week and was asked about quarterback Garrett Nussmeier and the areas of growth he expects to see out of him this season:
quote:

"I think we have documented some of the things that he needs to be better at," Kelly said. "His worst play needs to be zero. And that’s okay. We can live with zero; what we can’t live with is catastrophic mistakes."

"I think you have to live through that to know what your limits are. And I think he knows what those limits are in terms of managing a bad play and making it zero. That's experience."

"And then just the technical things: On time throws, never turn down a profit... if there’s a check down, take it, it doesn’t have to always be down the field."
Kelly also talked about Nussmeier's ability to run the ball, something that he didn't do last season:
quote:

"I think physically, he has been taking care of his body," Kelly said. "He ran 21.4 mph, that’s high 4.5s. He can run. So I think he clearly understands that when the opportunity arises, he can take off and be an effective runner."

He has the potential for it, but will our OC make the right calls and will he be a little more level headed and not let one mistake overwhelm him

He's not wrong. We win TX A&M if he just takes the sack and doesn't throw the 2 bad INT. And if he learns to run it for 2-3 yards then watch out!

Asking Nuss to cut back on INTs was the chuckle I needed for today.

2nd and long runs will cost Nuss a heisman.

Such a stupid weak 90s style of playcalling.
