Head coach Brian Kelly spoke with reporters Wednesday and was asked about freshman tight end Trey'Dez Green, who joined LSU's basketball team shortly after the football season ended in January.

Kelly explained that Green is still participating in the football offseason training program while he plays basketball, and the focus is to keep his weight up for the football season.
quote:

"This is something that he wanted to do," Kelly said. "We talked about it with his family. We talked about how it would be hard to play basketball and football in the SEC."

"He's probably lost a little bit of weight, but he's involved in our weight training. He is training physically in the weight room with our guys. He's not tapped out, which we are excited about."

"But he's lost a little bit of weight running up and down the court. But we are fine because we are going to continue to train him and are excited about his future."

Surely he's seeing more value for himself playing football rather than basketball.

It's obvious this isn't good for football since he needed strength to be able to block at TE next year but we'll see

Keep him at receiver and let him lose the weight and gain quickness and speed.

Sorry, but if I'm TG... I'm not playing on this shite team. I'll just hit the books, class and get myself ready for football.
