Jay Biggerstaff-USA TODAY Sports
Former Georgia safety Major Burns announced Tuesday afternoon that he has committed to LSU.

Burns, a native of Baton Rouge (Madison Prep Academy) played his freshman season last year with the Bulldogs and announced his decision to enter the transfer portal on May 13.

He was a one-time LSU commit during his high school recruitment but ended up signing with Georgia in the 2020 class. Now, the former four-star prospect is "coming home..."

Burns will count towards LSU's 2021 class. The Tigers signed 23 players in the class and added Clemson linebacker transfer Mike Jones Jr. and Burns to max out the class at 25 players.

The addition of Burns gives the Tigers some needed depth at safety after losing Jacoby Stevens to the NFL Draft and Maurice Hampton Jr. to the transfer portal.

You never have too many Big CB's/Safety-types with all the Spread offenses in CFB! This is a big kid, with room to add muscle, and play a hybrid OLB-Safety or cover a slot-WR. He is a local kid, who wants to play for LSU, and won't be entering the transfer portal anytime soon. Great addition for LSU... Geaux Tigers!!

New NCAA rule says u can’t transfer twice unless it’s graduate school ( which hypothetically means your commitment to college(s) unattended. I hate portal but this rule at least means can’t happen as much

Throw in him and Mike Jones and this is probably the highest rated recruiting class in recent history. Incredible after last season. GEAUX TIGERS! Did I read that LSU returns more starters than any sec team? They started playing very well at the end of the year so look out, as long as the coaches are an upgrade.

We cut him loose to make room for two 5 star wide receiver, who actually signed with Maryland and Georgia.

Getting 5 star talent outside of Louisiana is not a done deal until they are signed. Glad we could get burns back after those two jumped shipped last minute

If a 5* chose Maryland over LSU then he’s probably not a legit 5* or not a very smart individual at least!

Does he have 4 left or 5 to play 4 because of covid?

Not sure why you got downvoted for a legit question. He comes with essentially 0 years under his belt. He was a freshman the covid season, so it's like last season never happened for eligibility purposes.
